I had some people ask about puppies at the shelter I volunteer for. I (finally) remembered to bring my camera today, so people can see what I mean. I think some people think that I exaggerate when I say we have a ton of puppies. And keep in mind, this isn't even a quarter of them. There are many more back in holding, but most of those end up getting pts, so I thought it would be too depressing to put on here..

Since these are already on the adoption floor, they are pretty safe. Most of our euthing is of dogs and cats before they even get put up for adoption. It's hard, but we have to pick and choose which ones stay and which ones go.

And we do transport, if anyone is interested! I can give details about each one, as well.

    Cute!

I would say take pictures of the puppies awaiting euthanasia, and post them with a line saying "These puppies will be put to sleep before ever having the chance to be adopted. There is nothing wrong with them, they aren't sick, and they don't have behavioral issues. There simply isn't enough room for them. Please neuter your pets."

    So sad.

    :( :( :(

Which shelter are you with? I know of a rescue that pulls herding dogs from really far away, because they have a really good transport system. And I see some ACD puppies I guess.

I want to take all the fluffy puppies home right now! :( And I wish the rescue I work with could do transport, because they hardly ever get puppies

Oh, that little merle and roan litter is too cute! If I had all the money and time in the world, I'd be ripping them out of their cage now.

Man, if I had the time/money right now...

The shelter I worked at would have weeks in the spring where we'd have maybe up to 40 puppies up for adoption. It's crazy how many there are down there in the rural shelter. Up here in the suburbs the shelter is much much less full.

Holy moley. That's a ton of puppies. Too bad you guys can't send them up here. Our shelters are pretty empty this year. 3 at the local one and maybe five at the private one.

We don't see a lot of pups here and they get snatched up super quick. I have no idea what those first pups are but they are black and fluffy and I want one. I think I would also end up leaving with all the blue pups in what looks like an ACD mix litter

Go to any rural area, the dogs are allowed to run loose, they aren't fixed, and you have an abundance of puppies.

Until we can figure out a way to convince people in rural areas that they need to change the way they own dogs, this problem will continue. I think strict enforcement of dog "running at large" or "leash" laws (whichever law exists), or creating a leash or running at large law if there is none in that area and strictly enforcing it will be a good start.

I agree, we live in a rural area and the people to our left have at least five labXs that roam free, to the right there are three shepherds who do the same, and across the road two more dogs. All unaltered of course. We talked to them on several occasions about this, even had the local animal control talk to them. It took us, upon the local animal control suggestion, calling them up next time a pair of them where out running so she could pick them up and charge them to get them back for them to start keeping better track of their dogs:mad: I think stricter laws and heftier fines would go a long way.
