Technically you're supposed to clarify the butter first, but I rarely do that. I just melt the butter and whisk some lemon juice in it. Butter and lemon pepper seasoning works well too.
So you turned up a turnip? You sound like me, scrounging through the pantry to see what goes into tonight's dinner.
I've got tomorrow night's dinner in the crock pot. Vegetable soup! There's no telling what will end up in there. Remember the story of Stone Soup? I've got this huge bag of frozen Thai stir fry vegies in the freezer. It's got edames and broccoli and water chestnuts and all sorts of things in it, so I'll probably throw a handful in to go with the leftover part of the cabbage head, carrots, last big can of tomatoes, leftover onion and chicken stock. I think I've got some Yukon Gold potatoes, and there's some corn frozen on the cob out in the deep freeze. Maybe I'll throw some brown rice in.
