Hi, my dog every now and then pukes what looks like foamy saliva. Today though it has a yellowish color. I am taking him to the vet now but I would still like to hear users opinions here on what this might be and if its normal or something is majorly wrong.

here is a picture:

note: my dog is 1 year and 7 months old now

that is bile, just your run of the mill stomach excretion. Usually it is nothing serious but it's batter to be safe than sorry. Usually what it seems so indicate is that the dog is not getting his food spread out enough. If you feed more meals (not necessarily more food) it tends to stop. When they puke bile it shows that their tummy is empty (or food would have come up). Well tell us what the vet said!

thanks. well vet also said its nothing serious since my dog was extremely active and energetic. he didn't tell me what it could have been from but gave my dog an injection and told me not to feed him or give him anything to drink for 12 hours. He told me most of the time problems like this work themselves out.

he told me to give him a bit of water after 12 hours and see if he pukes it. if not i could give him some rice with chicken.

in case he does puke (which my dog hasn't) i should go back to him tomorrow.

Ilsa used to do this almost every morning - turns out, her tummy was empty and it bothered her. Now I feed her right before I go to bed and right when I wake up in the morning, and the problem is solved!

Yes, Orson will puke up the same looking stuff if it goes past his feeding time (empty tummy) never fails! He must eat in the morning no later than 8, and at night no later than 6 or this WILL happen.

It is quite common for dogs to vomit bile on an empty stomach. Even just feeding a few cookies prior to bedtime can prevent vomiting.

Riot does that on occation as well, same with Princess or Tyr..

Usually in the morning when their tummies are completely empty (which has been solved from night time feedings as well)

or Riot will do that if he drinks TOO much water.. he'll hoark some of it back up.. lol
