This has been one of the worst years for viruses I have ever known. Either Hyia is sick or Aaron and his friends. I get it from both sides. The schools have been a petri dish of bugs but you still have to send them. I have had one body ache after another since before halloween. Is anybody else having this problem? I almost took Aaron to the er last night. He coughed till he had tears running down his face and was exhausted. He has illness triggered asthma so he was given a flu shot too. It isn't so much one bug that concerns me, it is the onslaught of the parade of viruses. I think it might be too many mice in a tank scenerio. Where I live the population has boomed 100 percent. The smell of exhaust wakes me up in the morning. You would think that someone was running a car right out my window but it is the rush hour aroma. I don't know if that is contributing or not. I would like to figure out a way to protect us a little. We are so tired of being ill. Last year was almost as bad..right up to spring. My question is where people live more rural, have you been this sick or do you think it doens't make any difference?

We live in a small town, closest city is a hour drive. People here are going thru the same thing. Alot of strep throat going around, colds and flu. I have had more sinus problems this winter than any in along time. One day its like spring out, the next its bitter cold temps. I have always heard you need the cold to kill the virus', maybe that has something to do with it. The fact that alot of areas seem to be having a pretty mild winter (at least we are here).
My husband is like you when it comes to the smell of exhaust, makes him sick. I'm a odd one, I always tell him it smells good. It reminds me of living in Michigan and riding the snowmobiles. They had that smell to them. So when I smell it I smell winter fun and great memories.

I used to live in the heart of London/UK and on several occasions was knocked flat with flu/colds/havfever/asthma - since moving to rural Spain it hasn't happened once, and I do really notice the difference in the air. When I was in the city I used to run air cleaners/conditioners at home but in some ways it made it worse when I went out - especially in rush hour during the summer months!... and in the office I worked at it was often the case that bugs would spread rapidly.... being 'out in the sticks' now I really appreciate things like the better air, being able to see the night sky without the glare of city lights and the peace and quiet - I'm sure it really helps with well being. I'm lucky to have been able to make the move... I'm sure in my case anyway it made a big difference.

I swear I feel like a host vessel..when one vacates it another jumps in. I am not planning on moving now, not as long as my mama is living, but one day I am going to a good place for me and my dogs. Flagstaff Arizona is so pretty..I can still remember how it smelled of pine and dry air..I think it would be healthiest for Hyia too. She has the same allergies that my son has and the exact same form of asthma. What is scary is all the little kids around here have asthma. wish I owned stock in claratin d.

I agree with Renee that is weird how so many people there have asthma.

I also have Asthma have had it since I was 8 and its definatly not fun. I hate how it intensifies regular ilnesses.

I would always be sick sick the day after market. I think it has something to do with the tire particles..that they now post on the news next to mold and pollen. That is why I (as always thinking far ahead) am beginning to make my long term plans. The good thing about being an artist is you can do that about anywhere....Where I live is a river valley and one of the worst places in the us for mold. Lucky us. Anybody read Angela's ashes where McCourt wrote an essay called Jesus and the weather? Lol every time I hear it (i got it on tape). I really liked hearing about spain. I would like to live the last quarter of my life in feeling as good as possible..nothing wrong with stacking the deck in my favor I think. AFter my house burned and I have moved twice in two years, I have learned not to get to attached to a piece of land. Now the world is a little more open to me than it use to be. This area use to be so pretty, now it is more parking lots and roads not built for this much traffic. Hyia has already had pneumonia once. AAron had it so severly and he is in such denial..I do not have asthma...why are men like this??????? Anyway he tried to say I made the doc say he had asthma and I just left the office with him sitting there. I mean I really left! He is 17 and needs to get with the program here. I guess the doc laid it on pretty thick, he was only in stage four..which is a er trip for the normal human. Oh well, I will stop. Looking for good air that's all. Bonster pretty much confirmed what i have been pondering. Thanks for the info...and thanks for the hug. Maybe the sunshine and spring breezes will blow it all away for now. Our poor planet...I hope green cars make a difference. Wish I had one now!

Hope you feel better soon. I've been off the boards for awhile because I came down with the flu. I felt like someone beat me up. It's been a long time since I've been this sick. I still have it in my chest and coughing. I hope everyone else out there stays healthy with all the viruses going around.
