Hi all, here's a couple of pictures of our boy Floyd at the southern counties show. It was the first time he's been shown. He won 1st in puppy, best puppy dog, and best oposite sex puppy in show :D

And here's a picture of my wife and Floyd with the judge :D

I ment the dress code. I dont meen to be rude so I hope it didnt come off that way.

Here if your not dressed properly the judge will place you 2nd even if you are the only dog

and that is ridiculous - the show ring SHOULD NOT be a fashion competition. The DOGS should be judged -not who is on the other end of the leash. It shouldn't matter that there is a well known handler versus a novice - if they handle the dog well and it SHOWS well, and it meets the standard, the dog should be placed accordingly, irregardless of what color pants, or how nice their hair looks.

your right kim it shouldn't. But it is.

I have seen it happen. A friend of mine whent in with a AMAZING dog and she placed second and the judge told her that had she dressed apropriate she would have placed.

The handler thing is unfortonate but here there are certain handlers that a judge likes.

Thankyou everyone.

We are over the moon, we was in 2 minds whether to take him or not and never decided to take him until about 9 oclock the night before. So glad we did lol. It shouldn't matter what anyone wears in the ring it's the dog that is on show and not the owner/handler. If it is a big champ show then obviously you make an effort to look your best, but this was only an open and to be honest i spent most of my time in the bar celebrating anyway lol.

Here's a few more of him posing with his winnings

He's a very nice looking boy.

I agree it should only be about the dogs but there is alot of politics involved too.

Thankyou,

Yes there are too many polotics involved in showing, but i dont have time for them lol. The way i see it is you pay your money for the judges opinion on your dog on that day, not you or the clothes you wear. If a judge placed him lower because we wasn't dressed up enough, quite honestly i would laugh at him/her :p

Jenn, not altogether true.

Altho most people understand that nice sportswear is the general rule in the AKC/CKC rings, there are many (if not most) judges out there who are judging dogs, not attire.

A person's attire should never ever be taken into consideration over the quality of the dog they are presenting....

JMO of course...

;)

CONGRATS to Floyd and handler on a job well done.

:D
