I had all my boys on herring fish oil but had to take them off because of the horendous farts. It was at the point where the smell would linger in the living room and not go away which makes me think that maybe all of them got bad gas (the smell would not dissipate)
Does anyone have their dog on a different fish oil that doesn't give them gas?

I use Walgreens fish oil capsules. Good price, often 2 for 1, and USP - and no farts

I keep them in the fridge. I bite the end off the gelatin capsule and squeeze it onto food.

Caleb gets Nature's Bounty Salmon Oil. NO farts here, either.

I keep them in the fridge, too. But I just either toss one to Caleb or plop it in his breakfast.

Lucky you. I have never got a dog to swallow any capsule without jamming them in the back of the throat. They love the fish oil but not the container.

I've heard of people who have had dogs either get farty or just have an overall fishy smell on fish oil. But I've never had a problem.

I usually use Bravo Salmon Oil. I also use Nature Made Fish Oil Caplets when they're on 2 for 1 sale at the supermarket. And no, my dogs don't eat the caplets BUT there is a seem down the middle so you can press on the seem and burst them open and squeeze them onto the food ;)

Try getting the odorless ones and see if they help. I know those are the ones I take, no fish aftertaste at all!

No problems with the fish oil caplets with Auggie, but if he is fed a fish food, he reeks. I bought a bag of Salmon variety California Natural once and that was the first and last bag of it I ever bought... never again.

Auggie gets salmon oil caplets, I think they are Nature Made. I have done fish oil caplets before but I buy straight salmon oil now. He only gets one caplet a day so maybe there's just not very much to make him smell fishy?

When we fostered Seamus and put him on salmon based food, he reeked something awful.

But when Charlie was on it, he smelled way better. I think he was just able to digest it better or something. And all of our crew gets fish oil capsules. None of them smell fishy.

Yeah. The only thing I've had to push down Caleb was Benadryll caplets. Funny thing is, I can just toss the capsules in his food and he eats them. Mick on the other hand, would take every pill I ever needed to give him, except DermCaps- those I had to put in his mouth and tell him to swallow.
