I was at the pet food store today looking for food and the owner started talking to me, I was looking at fish based foods and she said "stay away from fish it causes urine crystals"... I never heard this and didnt really know how to respond. Is this true?

They used to say that about cat foods, because "all cat foods were fish flavored". This was not the case, but you know how these things get started. Anyway, the cheap store brands have a higher ash content, which can make a prone animal develop crystals. So then in crosses over to dogs ...
