First steps to change

Because the boyfriend and I are breaking up, I am making some little steps to help fill the void. I've taken two steps today towards changing my life a little bit at a time:

1. I've applied to a local technical college to take classes this summer. Only one or two - just to start out - but the right time is never going to come on it's own. I have to make it come, I think.

2. I've also applied to the local humane society for volunteering opportunities. I'm looking to either help with the dogs, or to work in the front office.

I've also been making a list of everything I want to do this coming year. First on that list is to continue with therapy (i've been in for a year) to try and resolve all of my issues stemming from my long history of being abused by others. Other things on the list include getting my third tattoo, and going on some trips I put off while dating my boyfriend (Washington DC and Las Vegas being on top).

Being alone will be hard, especially since I still despair that I will ever meet someone who loves dogs (especially pit bulls) as much as I do... who understands how important my dog is to me. I hope that this time alone will be easier if I can just accomplish some of my goals for my life...

You are right on target, Mojo :)

A very wise friend also gave me some good advice once. Change all of your pillows . . . it really did make a difference. Febreeze the mattress. Reclaim your space as your own and make it your own.

It can be rough for awhile, but you have so many friends here who love you and will talk you through those rough spots. Lean on your friends. And learn to be friends with yourself and to enjoy your own company.

And talk to Mojo ;) He's your best listener.
