First experience with a groomer.

Today I took my moms Rat Terrier to the petsmart groomer to have his nails clipped because he really hates to have his nails clipped.

It was an interesting experience at that. Hunter jumped around like a crazy man and all that jazz. They were actually really good with him even though it was petsmart. I thought maybe they wouldn't be good with the animals for some reason. I don't know lol. He got a little bandanna and a cologne spray.

But anyway, since they were good with a wild little dog like him, I made an appointment to have whatever done to Zelda they thought she would need. XD

So, tomorrow at 5, we'll see how it goes. =)

BUT. Petsmart makes me angry all at the same time because shes not allowed to go to their day camp play thing. -sigh- ignorant petsmart people!!!

I worked at a Petsmart grooming salon for a while and I would approve of them. Not that they're perfect or anything, but they know what they're doing (most of them anyways ) and do it well. They see a lot of dogs in there of all different breeds. Believe me, I saw some pretty interesting stuff working there!

Don't worry, you guys will be fine! Petsmart may be lax in some areas, but the salon is a pretty tight ship, much better than the training department.

I went to a Petsmart groomer for awhile and they did not know how to cut a poodle at all... my dog came out looking horrible... however they were super nice to her and treated her well, which is a lot better then I can say for many other groomers I have visited. If you dont have a breed that requires extra special skill to groom, I would definitley reccomend them.

yes, we took Hershey there, and he loved getting a bath there! I was like, Is he sick?? They gave him a day of being pampered! He did not give them any fuss!! I was seriously thinking he was sick.. But he wasn't, he was getting pampered! And he looked gorgeous when he came out! But, ya, Zelda will do great!

I guess I'm the only one who hates Petsmart/Petco groomers. Never recommended them.

Then again, I don't like many groomers and how they do their job.

I took Tosca to a groomer last fall and I swear when I picked her up she thought she was Dora Desmond or something. I was tempted to throw her in the mud she had such a diva tude. I guess she likes it. lol.

We just got a Petsmart in my area a few months ago and they are also very nice to Zippy, who sometimes is a bit of a shrinking violet when in a new situation. At Christmas time they put this spray on him that smelled like cookies--and a little red bow--I think he thought he was pretty cool too!

Kmh1, where I brought her, the grooming area is up a set of wide stairs. I still can see her when they brought her down when I picked her up. If she could have gripped the banister for effect, she would have done it. She was absolutely preening. It was a riot. It could happen to you.

i had to take sylvie in to get groomed right after we got her, because she was such a matted mess. she had mats over her footpads, even. so, i didn't want to delay getting her trimmed up. she was pretty distraught about the whole situation and walked out of the groomers like she was embarassed about how she looked. i was very hesitant about bringing her to a petcetera, as i dislike the store in general [the state of the fish alone...grr..]. but it was the only place with an opening within the near future, so i booked it. i was actually really impressed with the groomer. she obviously loves dogs or fakes it impressively.
i will most likely groom her in the future myself, but her previous owner said he muzzled her when he groomed her, which made me a little worried and is why i sent her in, anyway. plus $40 vs hours of work for me... the groomer had no problem though, so i'm not sure what he did to cause her to have to be muzzled... she's pretty touch protective, and FOUGHT me so much when i first tried to lay her down and touch her feet and underside. so maybe that's why. i've come a long way already with getting her used to it, though.
