EEEKKK, Fila puppies. I want! They are too cute for words. Think my landlord would notice? lol
Oh, probably not . . . for about 3 or 4 months until that shadow following you everywhere got too big to miss :D

Or until someone tried to walk into your place uninvited. They're protective far sooner than you'd imagine, lol. Kharma did her first disarming (took what she thought was a weapon, not the arm :p) when she was 7 months old. ;)

Renee,
Yes, they all eat very well now...a lil too well, always begging. I keep them slim (not skinny but slim) because as you know these dogs have those hip and elbow issues.

Lostandconfused,
like renee said,,,you def dont want this, way too protective and especially this particular breeding.

My living situation isn't really set up for having a dog, unfortunately.

I keep saying I'll eventually have a Fila, but who knows what life will bring, eh. I might end up meeting a few and realizing they just aren't the right breed for me. But until then, a girl can dream.

What do you do with your Filas?

lostandconfused, what do you mean by what do I do with my dogs?

Teal, I've always liked brindles since I found out that they were not winning at shows and that breeders were starting to breed away from brindles...showed them! lol. I personally like a really nice brindle over any fawn however that female 1 is sticking way out in front for me not to have to look at her 2Xs. Thanks.

I've yet to see a brindle Fila in person around here... My dog's breeder, Dianna and Trevor of De la Luna, is the only Fila breeder in the area that I know of. I posted who my dog is out of in my introduction thread :)

I take from some of your later posts that you show your dogs. Do you just show in confirmation or do you do other stuff with them? Just curious.

I've had more than one person observe to me that the different coats really do tend to have different temperaments and from what I've seen I tend to agree.

I love having a red fawn bitch. :D

The brindles are beautiful, but I love the red fawn temperament -- even, no, make that ESPECIALLY in their more difficult moments.

De La Luna has some fantastic dogs. If I'm ever able to get a fila, they'll be one of the first people I get in contact with.

FilaArena, your puppies are absolutely stunning! Have a huge soft spot for squishy fila faces here. lol.

Lostandconfused, I only show my dogs in CAFIB shows which arent just about confirmation. there are temperament hit, nervous system tests, etc. not your basic AKC show.
Renee, coat colors do not affect temperament, that is just something that has been said forever with no scientific proof. I have heard it too with the brindles supposedly the hardest and most unforgiven...not true at all.
Romy, De la luna does have some nice dogs...the male I used for my breeding is a littermate brother to her dog sae.

I've heard both ways on the coat colors; "theoretically" there's no real basis, but too many Fila people I've known who have had multiples have noted a difference in temperaments for me to disregard it ;)

Look at the differences in people. Say, between blonds and redheads :D

I have, though, been told by people who own the different coats that the brindles are somewhat easier and more straightforward to deal with, while the red fawns tend to be more . . . devious, among other things ;)

LOL and at the show I was told that the reason my Fila won best temperament was because she is brindle...and now Im meeting someone that has had multiple people tell her that brindle filas are softer??? we need to get our peeps together.
