Hi everyone,

So thats me had my puppy for a month now and we are still getting used to each other.

Its a really wild and fun experience, there's so much to learn ect,so Im here for some more advice :)

So me and my partner both work and when its my days off I always look for ideas to try keep him amused, excited and pretty worn out hehe..

He's a collie/kelpie cross, so despite walking her for 2 hours a day he still likes to have a play when he gets home.

Any ideas on how to make me smile a little bit more when he has some more time with me..

The weirdest thing Ive found is Im scared of having him on my own sometimes because he does tend to cry alot when he is in his cage and I know I havent to constantly keep checking him but then I feel bad, I still leave him though, just grit my teeth, I just worry I do something wrong or make him hate me lol

Any ideas for any of the above would be very much appreciated!

Thankx
xx

Have you done any clicker training? Mental stimulation is equally, if not more, important than physical exercise, especially for puppies. Clicker training is a great way to keep him thinking, and it will help to strengthen your bond. I'd definately suggest getting him into a puppy training class, preferably one that does clicker training, class is also wonderful for socialization for puppies. For more info on clicker training, and to learn how to start clicking with your dog, check out www.clickertraining.com.

Is there an enclosed dog park or run anywhere near where you live? If he's good with other dogs, nothing beats a good half hour's intense running and wrestling to tire a puppy out.

You could play the find it game with him. You hid a small treat like under the rug or behind a chair and have him find it. It is a great mental game. Do you play fetch? With a young dog a start out by just rolling the ball it is lots of fun.

Oh my, there is so much you can train a puppy to do, short fun playful sessions that work him a bit physically and mentally.
I agree clicker training when done correctly is awesome.

There is a great DVD out there by Susan Garrett called Crate Games. Well worth having and it teaches your pup/dog self control which will makes he's life and yours much easier.
