Hmmm she said there won't be another ring confidence for like 8 months.... I'm wondering if I should just buy the material - has anyone done that before? I'm just worried I won't actually DO it.

I have signed up for classes at Bronze where I didn't have a ton of time to really work on everything as the class was going on, which is kind of the same thing as just buying the lectures. I would rather have the info than not if you think it's something you guys really need. Do you just get access to the lectures and not the forums? How much is it?

I think they only time you can just buy material is if you plan to do the 2nd of a series and you need the material from the 1st of the series.

Otherwise, I'm pretty sure that you can only gain access if you purchase at the bronze level as a minimum.

Yeah, that's kind of what I thought. But you could buy it next term when the second one starts up. Does it cost the same as bronze to do that?

I think I've decided what I'm taking. I want to do Intro to Agility, and Training Excellence - The Handler. One class to work on new skills with the dog, one to work on my training. I'd really love to take training excellence at gold, but I don't know if I have the time to get the most out of it. Has anybody taken it before?

Well now you guys have me looking at them. Luckily I know from experience that I will do nothing if I don't do Gold. And it sounds like those spots go insanely fast.

It really depends on the class. The popular ones are hard to get a gold spot in, but it can be done. The less popular classes are sometimes lacking gold students and they never fill up.

I think that it does cost the same as bronze in those instances and I think you only get the lectures. I clicked the link being nosey when I was taking Rally2... but I didn't really commit it to memory so I could be wrong.

Training Excellence is another course I really wanted to take this term! It was really hard for me to narrow it down! But I feel prey drive is SUPER important because I need a solid recall with hiking... and we're having problems with out of motions because he just wants to keep heeling and that shows up in Level 2 Rally (which we Q'd into so I can start it whenever I want).

Anyway, let me know what you think of training excellence, I may try to take it next time it shows up.

Some of the more popular ones you really have to be on your computer ready to sign up right away. And others they post on FB basically begging people to sign up.

I like Fenzi because I find it's more affordable for me. There is a course over at Daisy Peels that I would kill to take, but just an auditing spot costs $200. Which means I would have to give up our in person lessons and I could only take that one course for the next few months. Also I don't know how it works with the material, but with Fenzi if you take 1 class a year at Bronze you can keep your library basically forever and your lectures stay updated as the instructor updates for that class. If you don't take a class you can pay for a library pass which I think is $35/year for you classes. You can also save everything to your computer and not pay, but then you wouldn't get any updated information(supplemental videos, better descriptions, new ideas and tricks, etc).

Will do! I think I'm going to try for a gold spot. My training area now is tiny, but since you can work on any behavior that should be fine. Plus I'm spending way less on in person classes in my new location (they are cheaper in general, plus I can't fit any into my schedule) so I don't feel so guilty about the price.

Let me know about prey drive. I love the idea of it, but I'm concerned about the focus on chasing moving things, which isn't really Watson's major problem.

Yeah you can buy the lectures at the Bronze price. I think I might just do that. I will have to make sure to self-motivate a bit hahaha.

OK never mind, I misread the email. In order to get the read-only stuff for the first class I need to buy both the first and the second. Hm. Not sure if I have the monies for both at once right now. Bummer!!!

I'm tempted to take Get Focused and/or Relationship building through play.
I don't know if either of them would really be worth it but gosh darn it, these courses get so much hype, I want to be part of it hahahah. And there's nothing else, at least this session, that looks relevant to us.

My bank account would like me to only take one. Or none. :p Because we also just signed up for an "in person" class that starts soon.

The relationship building is the one I have been eyeing as well. I assume the gold spots will be gone instantly. I may still sign up for bronze. I just know after throwing away money on are callers that I won't get much out of it at that level.

Yeah, the time I signed up for Precision Heeling at gold I was basically sitting at my computer hitting refresh until the registration opened. Then I think the spots were gone within 15min. And that was a year ago - I think things have gotten more popular since then (but hopefully there are enough popular classes to spread people around a bit).

I'm going to go for Training Excellence - The Handler at gold. I'll be hitting refresh as 3:30 approaches.

There are FB lurker groups. Joining them may help you stay on track a little better?

Still lots of gold spots left in relationship building.

I had myself talked into it, then realized I didn't have my credit card with me at work. I will have to see if it is open when I get home!

Oh no! Hope you get a spot.

I'm waiting not-so-patiently for the class I want to open at 3:30. If I get a gold, I'm undecided if I should even bother with another class since I won't have time to do much other than follow along. I wanted to do agility handling, but then I realized I can only do it in my basement (which is concrete, so only super low jumps and no running) and only on weekends (not home during the week). Seems like a waste. But I might still do the relationship building class at bronze.

I CAN'T DECIDE. Gah.

On my possibles list:
FE101: Relationship Building Through Play
CC310: Canine Fitness Trainer 1
AG110: Intro to Agility - Handling Basics
OB560: Send Away and Retrieve For Any Dog Sports
OB570: Fantastic Fronts and Finishes
SH310: IPO Obedience - Sit Down Stand out of Motions

I do all Bronze, which helps, but I should only buy 2-3 MAX, not 6...
