I'm getting two puppies (Boston Terriers), 8 weeks old each. They're siblings. How often should I feed them? Should I leave out a bowl with food all day so they can eat at will, or should I apply a regimented schedule of twice daily? Please help!

First of all, raising two puppies at the same time is very hard. And there is a chance that they will bond to eachother more than to you.

But to answer your question, puppies of that age should be fed around four times a day. I don't like free feeding because dogs are not grazers and many dogs will just plain pig out LOL.

Point taken, I've heard that before a few times. I've heard, though, that raising two at the same time can be as easy as one; often the one that learns first is copied by the other one, in effect training by proxy.

Plus, I am raising them with my girlfriend (we live together). They're allegedly smart dogs, I've been told that there shouldn't be too much of a problem. What do you think?

at 8 weeks old, you should still be feeding 3 times a day. gradually reduce to 2 times daily at around 4 months old, depending on how enthusiastic they are about their mid-day meal at that point. some dogs need more time than others to adjust to 2 days a meal.

At 9 weeks I fed Yukon 4 times a day, at 4 months we switched to 3 times a day and at 6 months we are feeding twice a day, we will stick with this!

We are still feeding Jedi and Daisy three times a day and they are 4 1/2 months old. We are going to switch to twice a day probably at 5 months. My only suggestion would be to make sure you give them each a bowl of food. At first we would just put two bowls down and let them eat out of which ever but it was hard to tell who was eating what. We now have a stand that holds two bowls and they each get one side. This way we know they are both getting the right amount. When they are finished we leave the bowls down for a minute or two and let them sniff each others so they don't get protective over "their" side. Good luck with your puppies.
