I was wondering what others have done in respect to switching 3 feedings to 2.
At what age did you switch feedings to just 2 servings per day?

Probably depends on the dog.

My puppy came home at about 9 weeks and was eating twice a day. As long as they are holding a good weight I would just go by what you feel.

I would carry about 1/2 cup of extra kibble with me so that if he started to act tired or hungry, I could give him a little extra. This really only came in handy on days when we were out doing a lot of socializing and he needed some extra calories.

I started feeding only once a day at about 6 months.

Large breed dogs that need to eat large amounts of food may benefit from being fed 3 times a day for a longer period of time. Small breed dogs who can't eat as much at once might also benefit from the same. I was feeding my puppy about 1.5-2 cups twice a day. (Total of 3-4 cups) He had to work for it though, I didn't just set it out. So he might have a couple of 5 minute training sessions to get one meal.

My Border Collie came to me on 2 feedings. Never had any problems.

The Beagle came on 3 feedings a day. He's 2 years old now and is still on 3 feedings because it's just what works with his body. So he gets 3 smaller meals at 8, 12, 6 instead of 2 larger meals at 8, 6.

I feed puppies 3 meals a day until around 6-7 months. I change to 2 meals when teething is done and maintain 2 meals for adult dogs. I experience happier active dogs when portion sizes are smaller.but this all depends on the type of dog you have,size,weight...
