Demon is a 6 month old Siberian Husky. He weighs about 27 lbs. I'm feeding him Maximum puppy food about 3 cups every night. He was just neutered. I was wondering if I should switch him to adult dog food as soon as his bag of puppy food was gone. Should he get regular adult food or large breed dog food. I've never had a husky before or a "big" dog for that matter so i'm not sure what or how much I should be feeding him.

Well, he looks at a normal weight, but I'm no expert on how much to feed your dog, since how much I feed mine changes daily with his exercise requirements and energy output that day.

I would love to know. I just kind of free feed and let her eat all she wants my husky is almost 2 but she is a very picky eater so im glad you found something he likes. It would be nice to have her on a schedule but she probably wouldent eat.

Husky has surprisingly small stomachs - they are a breed that you can over feed VERy easily. Because he was neutered I would switch him over to the adult food because it has a lower calorie content.
Also, if you switch him to a higher grade of dog food like Canidae I would probably only be feeding him maybe 3/4 - 1 cup twice a day. Make sure you work him lots though. a bored husky is a VERY bad husky lol

Our Racing line Alaskan husky eats 1 1/2cup morning 1 1/2 cup night and he weighs 70lbs. He is also eating a 30% protein and 20% fat food called Momentum(working dog food). It has roughly 450 calories per cup of food. He is also taken out at least twice a week for his usual 5k skijor or sled training.
In the summer he has his food cut back a bit because he isn't worked as hard.

Definately monitor the food intake on how much exercise you've given them.

I hope that helps you out a bit :)

Demon is adorable! : D

I definitely agree... that he should be switched from puppy food. All puppy food does is promote rapid growth, which is NOT a good thing, with a large breed puppy. Rapid growth equals joint issues.

To be honest, I feel that all-ages food is the best. Seperate foods for seperate ages/sizes/breeds/etc is more often than not just a gimick to make more money. GREAT all-ages foods include: Canidae, Innova Evo, Taste of the Wild, & Natural Balance. When feeding a higher quality food, you feed a lot less, due to the caloric density and high meat content. This page gives a summary of how premium foods are actually cheaper in the long-run, not to mention much healthier!: http://www.dogfoodproject.com/index.php?page=costfactors
