OK Tidus is around 5 months now and I have been wondering I usually feed him once a day. A pretty large cup of food, but I've noticed that other pet owners feed their dog twice a day. I usually feed him around 4-5pm because thats when I get home from school and am able to watch him and let him out when he's gotta "go". just wondering should I feed him 1 or 2, or is it just an owner thing?

I think it's an owner thing and the breed of dog. I've always fed just once a day. I found that about 5 to 6 months old my pups weren't that excited about breakfast.

some people will suggest to feed smaller more frequent meals to prevent bloat and to help with smaller puppies and low blood sugar. I feed my two cows (lab and standard poodle) two times a day. Morning and early evening, but then agian someone is always home with them to take them out. If that is the way he has been being fed and there is no problems then I would stick with what works though.

Personally I'd feed two meals a day, since he's a smaller breed dog. They say that beakfast is the most important meal of the day, but I myself can't eat it. My pups do, though, Maddie acts like they're starving to death if its 10mins late. Sometimes Carly eats it, and sometimes she doesn't, but I still offer it to her. It depends on the dog :p

at his age, i'd definitely still feed two meals a day. he's still young and not a very large dog, and might have problems with his blood sugar level if you feed only once a day.

even later on in life you'll have to determine the individual dog's needs, some dogs do okay with just one meal a day, others do better on two meals even as adults.

what about 3 meals a day? I'm feeding bubba 3 times a day but very little. wet food about 2 tablespoons full maybe 3. He is 7 weeks and a pug if that has anything to do with anything. we play for about 2 hours a day cumulative for exercise.

at such a young age (7 weeks is awfully young to be away from the mother and littermates already) i'd definitely feed 3 or 4 meals a day. these little guys don't have a whole lot of stomach capacity yet. :)

3-4 meals a day for a pug puppy until around 4 months old.
