Appalling. That ad has been around for a little while but I see the price has been reduced. Used to be $2000 but I guess it's hard to get "top dollar" for a dog aggressive, cat chasing shepherd. I assume that's the reason he's being traded? :(

poor baby. Why would you own such a GORGEOUS dog and not want him?! He can come live with me...I think I could find a stuffed pug for less then the $1800 they want, and then if they didn't like that after a year it could go to salvation army...

ugh! Why would you start a dog you're having trouble controlling on sleeve work... which I assume to mean schutzhund (I know I had to have butchered that spelling... sorry) training... I mean granted the dog is drivey, but if he can't handle that part of it why start him into somethign that only brings it out rather than working to modify and manage his drives? MOO

ok so now I have to ask, Is this common in some places/ cultures/ etc?

This is southwestern Ontario in Canada. No, I don't think trading in your dog for another is particularly common. Maybe your car but not your pets...;)
If I were to hazard a guess, I think the situation would be this: I wanted a big, intimidating dog and now I can't handle my big, intimidating dog. Training him would be too much work so I think I'll just trade him in for something different. Happens quite a bit but many of these shepherds wind up in a shelter, even the gorgeous ones.

Wait a minute...is't that picture from one of the members of our forum? I could have swore I just saw it as an avatar for a member on another thread.

Right here...http://www.chazhound.com/forums/member.php?u=9722

Please don't bash if I'm wrong, they just looked like identical pics.
That is the same dog. How sad....in late July, she was talking about how thrilled she was with her new dog. I wonder what happened?

OIC... THank you for filling me in! I was just thinking that unless it was socially acceptable for this schmuck to do this, that they'd just try to sell the dog and acquire another one in a different ad... I don't know all the policies on what all I can call this person...so just think really nasty things, and that's what I think of this____________... :D

She's still on, just posted today. Lets hope she drops in with an explanation. Maybe there are some particular circumstances we don't know about.
