Not too long ago there was a thread about names for babies I can't find it but there were some really unusual ideas. my daughter and I were talking about baby names. I wanted to remember some of your ideas but couldn't so what are some of your favorites which are unusual?

Names on my name list (even though I never plan to have kids?). Don't know how uncommon or unusual they are, though:

    Annette
    Gabriel
    Emery
    Anthony
    Danae
    Leander/Lysander
    Anabella
    Annalisa
    Lysanne

My husband likes incorporating my name (Liz). His middle name is Anthony. And all the Ann names are because....Ann and Elizabeth alternate generations in my family. Since I'm Elizabeth, next generation (mine or my brothers daughter) would be some form of Ann.

I could really use girl name ideas so this might be helpful!! I don't like super common names, and I tend to be drawn to names that sound feminine and especially ones that end in 'a'.

My nieces names are Eden and Vienna. I love both names - and I don't think they are too common.

This is our short list of future baby names. I love uncommon names, but ones that aren't too out-there!

    Boys:

    Ryland
    Parker
    Liam

    Girls:
    Marlie
    Nora
    Summer

I also love the name Jasper for a boy, and Abby for a girl... but those are on reserve as future chihuahua names :)

    :rofl1:

Ian's not a big fan of either of those, so I'm like "okay, they'll be chihuahua names then!"

I also love the name Maya, but it's a name we'll never use for a kid either!

I'm no help--I like common names. I see the frustration that the kids with unusual names go through in my classes, and I am so grateful to have an easy to spell, "normal" name as an adult. I think there is a really solid group of names somewhere between "There are 5 other girls with the same name in her kindergarten class" and "I have no idea what the heck you just said, can you please spell your name for me?"

Top names should we have an accident...
    Girls: Madeline or Clara
    Boy: Ryan

We paired longer names with shorter names and gave Morgan boy names to go by as his middle names. Gives it a nice balance imo.

I grew up with a very common name, and my husband grew up with an uncommon name. People still always pronounce/spell his name wrong, but he says he's happy that he doesn't have a common name.

I wish I had an uncommon name. Not something like Apple or Pilot Inspector, but something just a little different.

Yep. I hate that my name is so common.

I feel bad when I know a baby named Jessica, cause I know how much I hated it as a kid. Just lumped in with all the other Jessicas.

I like uncommon names, but spelled in the common way (if that makes sense). So, our kiddo is Clive, rather than Clyv, lol. There's no need for a million extra Ys or vowels in a kid's name...

Ian is uncommon? I've always had one or two Ian's in my class. I taught 1 this past year too (which is crazy, since only about 5% of my kids had traditional "American" names).

My name is Karen, which I thought was perfect (not the name, necessarily, but the commonality of it). There was never more than 1 other Karen in my grade, but EVERYONE knows the name and knows how to spell it. My sister Diane is the same way. Both names were popular about 30 years before we were born, so they are familiar but not common.

Maybe that's what I like--familiar names. I don't like names that I don't recognize immediately as being names!

DH also ended up with an uncommon name. Jerrod. Everyone pronounces it Jared, which is incorrect. So he goes by Jin. Everyone calls him Jen. He's given up. Lol.
