Title says it all. Back when I began heavily researching dogs I loved tons of breeds. However, the majority wouldn't suit me. Over time I have narrowed down the breeds that I like. I try to be honest with myself, and pick an appropriate breed that would suit me.

Without further ado, here is my list:

Breeds that I like, but wouldn't suit me:

Saluki
Puli
Sealyham Terrier
Manchester Terrier (Toy)
Silky Terrier
Cinerco dell' Etna
Norbottenspets
Barbet

Quite honestly I wouldn't want a terrier, sighthound or large breed. However, I do admire them.

Breeds that I like, and possibly wish to own, but they have a few traits that would be difficult for me to handle:

Maltese: I would be looking for a show dog. My main concern is keeping the coat in condition.

Cavalier: I also love Cavaliers, but the health issues scare me. I'd hate to miss out on them though, so maybe one day..

Welsh Springer: Love Welsh, always have and always will. I'm not into hunting though.

A few other Spaniel breeds could go here as well (Clumber, Boykin, Sussex, Field)

Breeds that I would love to own someday:

English Cocker Spaniel: Lovely dogs! Just my size, not too big, not too small. Tons of colors, shorter coats, and sweet spaniel expression.

English Setter: Another one of my must haves. A little on the bigger side, but I do love them. Really sweet tempered and beautiful. I'd be looking for a bench bred and/or possibly rescuing a field bred.

Kooikerhondje: Haven't met any yet, but they look lovely. I'd have to meet some first before I decided to get one.

Papillons will always be my heart breed, and I will always have them. However, I would still like to experience a few other breeds.

Now your turn!

I love papillons. They are going to be with me til they throw my body into a grave. I also think that I'm well suited for maltese, italian greyhounds, cocker spaniels, clumber spaniels, and possibly a GSD someday.

Breeds I adore but will never be in my home
mals
any large sighthound but especially borzoi
basset hounds
huskies
newfies
berners
neo mastiffs

Breeds that I'd rather be dogless than own
Terriers - yeah pretty much all of them
Trailing hounds

Borzois! I think they are absolutely stunning - unfortunately I live in the country, don't have a fenced in yard, and I rarely leash my dogs. Sighthounds aren't a good fit.

I love reading about the Malinois on here, and Renee's Kharma, but I think both breeds are way too much for me!

I've said before that Border Collies are by far my ideal dog looks-wise and I really love them, but at this time in my life I don't have the time to commit to their energy needs. However, I can easily see myself with one in the future.

My next dog will either be another English Shepherd or a German Shepherd. I switch between the two a lot depending on my mood, if Quinn is being good or not (LOL), what I'm browsing online, and the phases of the moon LOL. No matter which I end up with next though, I'll own both of them again.

I read a lot on here and think "I want to meet one of those!" even though I might not be seriously interested in one in the near future. I'm blanking, but earlier today I was reminded how much I really want to meet a few Groenendaels. I think they're so incredibly beautiful and I like the sound of them (although again might be a little much for me) but I've never met one. Never met a Papillon either, but they sound like nice little dogs as well. Never met a Toller either, although I really want to. Leonbergers, too. SO many more, but I can't think of any ATM.

I adore spanish mastiffs but I doubt I have any business owning an LGD.

I love the look of sight hounds but their personalities doubtfully would fit my desires.

hmmm...

My favorite breed is papillons so they obviously fit me well. I too will always have them in my house.

My big want but not a good fit is Ibizan Hounds and other sight hounds. I love the breeds but I am just not sure they'd fit me well. Ibizans have been my dream dog since 7th grade. I've had several friends with them and am still so jealous but my current wants and the fact that I have toy dogs makes it a no-go. Maybe a whippet one day but that's a big maybe.

Belgian Malinois. LOVE them but currently they are a lot too much dog for me. I really hope one day that won't be the case but I'm just not sure.

My other favorite breeds I could see myself owning for the most part.

Breeds that I like but probably will never own:
-Dalmatians: I am obsessed with them - but temperament, energy level, and their coat type is not suited to me.
-Brazillian Mastiffs: love the look and their temperament and unparalleled sweetness, but the way my life seems to be headed, they are off the list for now.
-German Shepherds: The SHEDDING! Can't do it.
-Great Danes: Vet bills, medical issues, and coat are all detractors here.
-Papillions: they're so tiny. Yes, that's the only issue. If I could get a 15-20lb Pap I'd totally have one.

Breeds I want and probably will own someday:
Sighthounds: Borzoi, Saluki, Greyhound, etc. I'm totally suited to a sighthound temperament. Even though I don't want short-coated breeds, a Grey will always be on my 'list.'
Doberman Pinscher: Couldn't deal with a super sharp one and don't want a puppy, but now that I've grown better as a dog owner they're back on my "someday" list. The only downside is coat, but I love them as much as Greyhounds. . . So I'll deal!
Standard Poodle: Totally suited to them. The only downside is grooming.
Rough Collie: Not sure yet. They're on my list for further research!

Am I going to be the only one to say that I love Rottweilers but I chose my dogs wrong and that therefore they aren't quite the right dogs for me but I love and work them anyway?

When I first looked into what breed would suit me, the White Swiss Shepherd and Papillon were the two I felt suited best to me. I love border collies because of the Chazzers and would even someday like to own one, but Rottweilers truly are my heart breed until another breed proves otherwise, I just chose wrongly and next time I get a Rottie I am more educated on how to choose a pup suited to me.

Breeds I love but would never own:

Old English Sheepdog
I've been fascinated with them forever. But between the crazy amounts of hair, huge size, and high energy level/needing a job to do, they'd be a horrible match for me.

Jack Russel Terrier
So cute, and I love how smart they are. But I don't think I'd be able to provide enough mental stimulation for one.

Beagle
I've loved every one that I've met, but I couldn't own one. Especially since I live in a condo right now...I don't think my neighbors would like all the baying.

Dogs I could see myself owning:

Chinese Crested
I want a hairless one sooooo bad. I'm thinking the next dog I add to my home will be a boy hairless crested.

Standard Poodle
If I was going to go with a big dog, I'd love a standard poodle. They're smart and beautiful.

Papillon
I've been really into papillons lately...I think it's because they're so smart in a tiny little package.

Most dogs I love, I am pretty well suited for.

Papillions and Chihuahuas... I love them, I adore them from far, but really... they are far too small for my liking, I do like my dogs fairly larger than my ferrets, LOL

Give me a terrier any day!

I like some hound breeds, but I don't think I would find them compatable with my life style. We do alot of bush camping, hiking and a dog thats going to want to follow his nose all day just won't work ha ha. Plus my parents and the inlaws place there is no fenced in yard, and the dog with most likely be spending alot of time there.

Alot of herders I think I could deal with, but I dont think I will ever bring one home. Having Bouves my whole life I have realised they are just not the breed for me.

Mastiff breeds I love. My next dog will be a guardian breed. I dont think I would ever own an English mastiff, a bull mastiff or a Neo.

I might get a toy later on in life when I am more settled and calm. But it probably will be a pap or a well bred chi.

GSD I have decided I will never ever own one, the hair shedding just scares me and I think I would go crazy. Actually pretty much every breed that sheds like a GSD, like a lab or a Corgi would be a NO-GO!

Im positive a Lab like breed would not match with that I want.

My favourite breeds are Kelpies and BC's and they do fit me, thats why I love them. (actually, I love them enough to make myself fit them - I'm naturally very lazy but I work hard to provide what Quinn needs because I love those traits.)

But there are there breeds I absolutely adore, Malamutes for example. I think they are so striking and I love their presence but there is no way I could live with a spitz, their independent personality would drive me nuts.

Also most terriers. I love their tenacity but I don't know if I could handle it. I like my soft herding breeds.

Saluki. Love them but not for me.

Same with Huskies and woofers :p

Papillons suit me well actually they fit me perfectly. I can't find an aspect that I don't like about Paps as a breed other than maybe they're a little too small.

I think a BC, field Golden, Brittany, Weims, Vizslas would all suit me pretty well. I've spent some time with them and they seem to be pretty good for my lifestyle.

I like a lot of the other sporters and spaniels but I'm not sure how good I would do with them.

Honestly, I think I'm a pretty adaptable person and most breeds that I like would do well with me. The only ones I have doubts about are the highly independent, stubborn breeds. Those guys are not for me.

Papillons. One of my very very favorite breeds, but they are so impractical for me due to their size. :(

Yeah size is my least favorite aspect of papillons. I'll adjust though because I can't imagine life without them. Unfortunately their small size is my main reason for giving up on owning the large sight hounds. I just am not comfortable with that combination. I will give up other breed wants to keep papillons in my life.

I still maintain someone needs to make a giant papillon, though.

I'd love to have a presa, but a proper one should be catching cattle and hogs, killing pests and guarding an estate... what am I going to do with that?? Unless I end up on a ranch with rogue cattle or a place populated by wild boar, I'd rather leave them to those that will use them.

Field labs are another one. I really want to meet a few because since Virgo I've fallen in love with them. I don't know if I could handle they're happy go lucky-ness or how long they take to mature.

My favs are my favs because they fit me so well :)

But one I really like which would be a horrible fit is a sledding Siberian Husky or husky-type Alaskan Husky.
