I have a specific issue with Hugo, my 4 month old Corso, that I am not sure how I should stop.

He has this thing he does, where he likes to LUNGE at my face. He is playing, but it startles the crap out of me and I hate it lol..

I try saying NO and pushing him away then standing up, and ignoring him, I have tried telling him down and holding him for a few seconds.. I have tried clapping my hands, I have tried saying OW! I have tried it all and so far nothings working.

He is great on all other aspects, hes learnt no and listens for everything BUT the face thing. I think its my hair, its really long. But he does it to my boyfriend too. He just jumps towards our faces with his mouth open lol.. we move so we don't know if hed bite or not. But it IS in play.

He also loves to try to lick our faces roughly.

Any ideas??

I am more worried he will do it to my bf's kids, who met him during his first week here but they went on vacation, and haven't beena round him since his personality has come out strongly. But they come home tomorrow and I don't want him to lunge at their little faces!

My mom had a Rottweiler/Black Lab mix and he did that all the time because he was really dominate. She didn't know how to make him stop so it got worse. He became so aggressive he would not only snap at her face but try to rip her hair out!

When he does this DO NOT PUSH him away because you are rewardiong him by touching him! Stand tall with your arms crossed and ignore him until he stops, when he settles down get him to sit and reward him.

BTW not all dogs that do this are aggressive or anything:) Charlie is a really sweet dog and he even did it once when he was a pup and I had him in my arms. My cousins Border Collie did also and he is a friendly dog now.:) Growing pups test dominance, after all it's a pack thing, you just have to know who to show your the "alpha dog"

My dog did that. I would suggest not moving away when he lunges, I understand that you don't want to get bit so move slightly but not in a fearful manner because he will realize that when he does that you back off so he will start doing that when he wants to get away with things he's not supposed to. He might be just playing now but it can turn into agression if not handled properly.

Ohhhh . . . Shiva does that. It's her favorite game with Charley. I'm not all that crazy about it, so when she first started it, I'd put my hand over the top of her snout and gently push it down and have her sit down. Now she only does it to Charley because he's the one who encourages it . . . plus I think she's checking his moustache to see if she can smell what he's eaten

Dakota did that as a puppy. It was just to give kisses, but somehow "kisses" always turned into him sinking those needle-teeth of his into my chin.
If he got too rough, I'd just wrap my hand around his muzzle (suppose you can't do that with Hugo though!) and tell him "easy" in a low, growly voice. When he relaxed, he could try again. He was very calmly affectionate with me because of that, but he was still a wild child with everyone else.

wow, so i read this when it was first posted up...and was totally confused as to what you meant.

Then i went to the humane society ( i volunteer as a dog walker) and there was this stray (wasnt up for adoption yet) a HUGE rottweiler/shepherd mix...cute as heck! Prob about 1.5 years old....

yeah....he did it, like 10 times, i thought my head was gonna get bitten off!!!!! Luckily, i was trying to remember everything i read on here....and also was trying to show no fear (i think i did a pretty good job considerding i had an 80lb stray jumping up on me, paws on my shoulder, nose in my nose...LOL!!!) oh boy, he was a sweet one though, other than that....his tail near knocked me down multiple times from wagging so fast, lol

ANYWAYS, good luck with that...cause now that i have expereienced it...i understand your concern a LOT better!!!!!
