My dog has a genetic defect called entropion. The eyelids actually turn in and the eyelashes end up rubbing on the eye and can cause damage to the cornea. I noticed his eyes were tearing a lot and somewat mucousy (sp?).

Has anyone had a dog with this condition and any recommendations for things I may need to know to ask the Dr or prior to surgery? He is going in next week on Friday.

Thanks

My dog Kassie had it done, she looked like Joan Rivers when I picked her up after surgery(the sutures pulled her eyes up). It freaked me out at first, thinking that her eyes would stay that way but they didn't. Once they healed and they took the sutures out her eyes returned to it's normal shape.

She also had another condition with her eyes called distichiasis, they fixed that problem at the same time. It's when the lashes grow inwards towards the eye.

The entropion surgery went well.

Good luck with your dog.
