I just cleaned my iBook key pad with a cottonball and Q-tip. They were black it was so dirty! And I couldn't even really see it. Gross! I haven't even had this computer for a year yet.

Now, I notice a difference and it looks so nice.

I recommend you all clean your keypads!

BTW How do you clean the screen on laptops! It's dirty but I don't think I'm supposed to put anything on it.

I've read that your not even supposed to use paper towel or terry cloth. Only those soft cloths - like for lenses. And only while it's turned off.

I believe that they make special products for the screen.

Does anyone have those keyguard things so that the keys don't make prints on the screen over time?

well we have a plastic shield thingy over the keys so they don't get dirty if that is what you were talking about...it looks kind of cheezy but you get used to it.

I'm very naughty and eat around my computer. No spills or anything but I'm sure a little gets on the keyboard each time. It seems so much brighter now! And smoother.

Melissa, this thing I was talking about is to cover the keys while the book is closed. I guess over time the keys leave an impression on the screen.

Can't find a link right now for them. I was just reading about iBooks when I came across that item.

yeah i think its better to stick in a sheet of soft fabric (like the kinds used to clean eyeglass lenses) in over your keyboard before closing it. but ive never seen anyone do that.

haha yeah I cleaned my keyboard about 2 weeks ago and found the following items...
Shredded Cheese
dog hair (Which amazes me how in the world did dog hair get in my keyboard?)
cookie crumbs
several pieces of lettuce (which I assume got in there when I ate tacos)
a couple of cheetos like little crumbs
found several spots where I dripped stuff
and found several unidentified objects in there that I have no idea what they were.

Oh and Ginger tried to eat the F key, she grabbed it off my desk and thank god she didn't swallow it. My idea of a good time isn't waiting for my dog to go to the bathroom and me standing outside waiting for the F key to come out.

We have the ubiquitous farm dust. It coats everything!

And I took it as a sign that I needed to get off the computer the other day when Kharma came over, nudged my hand away and tried to take off with the mouse while Bimmer poked me in the butt with his snoot . . . Think they wanted to play with me? :D
