Another Paleo fan. I like that it's easy - no 'you can have wheat, but not rice' kinda rules. Just eat meat, eggs, veggies, fruit and nuts. I do have dairy as well, not a ton, but some cheese and home made greek yogurt. Usually during the day I have my coffee, then fruit and veggies, maybe a bit of meat, or dip, sometimes greek yogurt, then dinner is meat and two or more veggies.
A few months ago, I found out I have high blood pressure. On meds daily, the side effects aren't great, but I'm also on a high dose so it's to be expected. Also now have fatty liver, no issues as far as I know yet, but it could be a lot worse, and gallstones. Doctor ran a ton of tests and found more issues than the blood pressure!
I started with cutting salt, and that means all the processed foods. There's a lot of crappy food out there and now we read labels (lunchables, my kids love them - 37% of your daily intake of sodium if you eat 2000 calories a day - they don't!) Then started eating less grains, opting for more veggies, then now do mostly paleo. I find I'm not that hungry, feel better and no more pms or other issues (other than now, because it's the holiday and I'm eating more crap).
ETA - coconut oil is amazing in your coffee. YUM! That's another thing, start with small changes and work up to goals. I used to live on the flavored coffee creamers in my coffee, now I take just cream, no sugar. A flavored sweetened coffee used to be great, now it's like drinking syrup.
I just started using less and less of it...
