So Emma is entered in a fun match on the 15th of April. I can use treats, her leash, toys, ect.. However I am only going to have one or two treats on me just so she knows they are there and pays atention to me and not her nose. No leash. I have untill the 15th to get her to do the weaves with no training gates. I can just not do the weaves if I choose, but we will see how training goes.

Hopefully we will do more work on the teeter because last night was her first time ever doing it.

Dont worry I will get lots of pics and maybe a video of it.

thats awesome! lol

i'm glad that Emma can listen to you and focus on you, unlike some Beagles I know in Agility! lol Its always cute to see them all of a sudden get a scent and say "well I've done enough I think" and take off with their nose lol

My mom is an agility instructor and co-owns an Agility club over here.

Riot has never had an agility class in his life, but he got to grow up with all the equipment in the backyard and at the farm, hes a natural. Which sort of peeves my mom off.. she can't get Jada to do a simple set of jump jump tunnel table lol

I would love to make a course to set up in the backyard for my beagle. I think it would be great excercise and fun for her. She likes the tunnel and she is an awesome jumper. And when she is in the backyard her dog house and chairs are against the window and she can get up and walk on the window seal and at my parents she walks on some old railroad ties they have.

Only Im not sure how to do it cheaply. I know buying the tunnel is really expensive, but I was hoping the other stuff I could make somehow. My parents have a really big backyard...and my bf does to...if he gets his fenced in. But it would need to be able to be put up and taken down fairly easily.

making the jumps and such is pretty easy, just MAKE SURE its sanded down wood, no splinters. Better yet, get PVC pipes and use those as the jump bars, easier to pick up and last longer them wood, also WAY lighter! :)

The tunnel is rather expensive, its around $150+ depending on where you get them.
For now you could get her those little kid tunnels at say, Wal-mart or something :)

Better to train then young then try and erase bad habits later..

Hi, I'm new here but I like agility and just wanted hop in and say good luck and have fun! I belong to an agility club and I participate mostly in the NADAC trials (our club also holds AKC, USDAA and TDAA trials) although right now I'm don't have any dogs to run, so mostly I just work at the trials. Under which rules is the fun match being held? Would love to see pics!

zoe also check in your local walmart, or kids toy stores for "kids" tunnels, they work just a good for practice and fun in your backyard and you can get them for 20$ or so.

FUN Matches, like Jenn has entered is a fun way to get your dog on different equipment, get them out on a course and in the agility environment, which can be very hectic. The matches are for practice and a great way for new handlers to get a taste of a trial situation as well. It's also no stress, so if your dog makes a mistake or acts like a dope, it's no big deal *vbg*.

Just learn to laugh at yourself and your dog, they definately have a way of humbling us ..
