Cliffs: What email Client do you use and why?

What email client do you use? There are too many out there so Im not going to do this as a pole.

Just because I am unusually verbose in this post does not mean you should feel obligated to do the same.

Email Client is defined as.

An application that runs on a personal computer or workstation and enables you to send, receive and organize e-mail. It's called a client because e-mail systems are based on a client-server architecture. Mail is sent from many clients to a central server, which re-routes the mail to its intended destination.
Since I started my new job Ive run into some I had never heard of and some I thought where so out of date nobody used them anymore, for instance I had never heard of or even seen Incredimail, apparently tweens and old people like this one, and Im drawing a blank on the obsolete ones at the moment although Im fairly certain Netscape had one that is now Thunderbird.

For the last number of years Ive been using Thunderbird on both Windoze and Linux systems. I do not like Outlook, Outlook Express or Live Mail email clients they just dont "feel" right to me. The same "feeling" extends to Ubuntu's default email client Evolution, which in the past was a PITA to set up.

I like Thunderbird because I have three email accounts I use, and TB shows all three accounts individually within the client.

Outlook, Live Mail, and Evolution Clients have 1 inbox, 1 Outbox, 1 whateverbox no matter how many email addresses you have.

I only started this thread because we are getting more and more Linux users calling in, WIN!!!, and since Im the go to Linux guy now I installed Evolution on my netbook as the only email client. First thing I noticed is I get all my emails from all 3 addresses under 1 inbox, all 3 sent boxes are 1 box, and I do not like that!

Luckily for me Thunderbird is going to be the new default email client in future Ubuntu releases.

Well for work, I use outlook, as that is our company standard and no way around that. My personal email I use the web interface, so I just use my browser (Chrome). I have my daughter set up on Thunderbird at home, though, to make it easier for her. I have set up/supported Pine previously, but that is years ago.

Never even heard of Pine. I dislike the WebMail clients because its my email but its not on my computer, its on a server out there. Its not about security or that Im worried about their server being hacked, I just want my past emails available even if Im not connected to the internets.

ETA: I just installed Thunderbird on my server so that I have a second place that my emails are being backed up too. My laptop doesnt have a complete history of my saved emails, but now that my emails are on my server for the last year and a half I have access to those via RDP if need be. I lost 4 years of emails in 2006, some good ones from my very liberal brother that I wish I still had. I also lost emails from 06-10 when I switched to Ubuntu.

Another plus of using a client over WebMail, a client I supply and can expand the amount of storage available, WebMail I have a fixed amount of storage.

I am still curious as to what email clients yall use, and now Im curious as to how many of you use WebMail only?

Thunderbird, but I don't have any good reason for why other than I like Firefox, so it seemed a sensible choice. I use three different accounts as well and I like how nicely it keeps everything separated.

Eudora, Pegasus Mail, and Gmail apps are others you may want to look at.
I use Pegasus at pmail.com for ages, but testing out google apps now. And so far very impressed...

I'm addicted to Gmail. Yes, it has the issues you mentioned, but I like that I can get to it from anywhere and don't have to be locked with my computer.

I don't intentionally use anything - just Gmail online - but apparently whatever client came with Windows 7 has decided that it MUST take over o.0 It's not Outlook, it's something else. Just can't remember what at the moment.

I can check my ISP provided email, my Gmail, and my Operamail from any where as well with the web based clients, from any computer with web access.

It is Live Mail part of the Windows Live Suite. Honestly Outlook Express was better IMO.

Gmail here, love it. I've never had to delete any emails so i never have anything important go missing!
I have a Gmail account too, I just hate the online web client.

The main reason I use a email client like Thunderbird and now Evolution is for offline archiving of emails. Now after trying Evolution I will be reinstalling Thunderbird as I prefer it because it separates my 3 email accounts automatically.

For those of you using an iPhone and us using Android based phones, we all use email clients if we check our email on our phones.
