So Ginger is teething now. She's lost all four of her fang teeth and doesn't seem to be in much pain because the new ones don't seem to be growing in, but I am wondering if I should still be feeding her hard and soft food. I would think it easier for her to eat the soft food, but would chewing on the hard food give her some sort of relief from the teething pain? Any suggestions?

When Shippo was losing his puppy teeth I fed him regularly. I also gave him wetted down, frozen rope toys to teeth on, to encourage the teeth to loosen and come out and to make his gums feel better. >^^;<

We almost always put warm water in our puppy's food. He definitely appreciated it when he was teething. We gave him Nylabones and ice cubes to chew on to relieve the pain, as well as adding some baking soda to his water.

Baking soda to the water is interesting. I took someone's advice on this site and gave Ginger a frozen washcloth and she bit at it for about 10 minutes and is now not interested in it at all. Oh well. I'll try the hot water on her dry food. That might help. She loves her bully stick, flossie and nylabone to chew on.

That dead fish smell is horrible! Our 12 year old has that smell too. I attribute it to 11 years of kibble. Her teeth are pretty worn down too. I say she has breath that could knock a buzzard off a sh!t wagon. :) That is the ONLY issue the raw diet didn't fix with her, though her teeth are much cleaner now. Her allergies went away, her coat and skin cleared up, but the breath remains.

I'd be concerned if your pup has breath like that, he may have a bad tooth or something. Maybe you could give him some raw bones to help keep his teeth clean.

Pups will chew, like others said soothing things will help and make sure they know what they can and cant chew on. Kibble will not clean the teeth, unless the pup has problems eating I don't change their diet, but that depends on what they are eating in the first place

It's gone now. It was only when he was losing his baby teeth.

Something really good to give while teething are soft raw meaty bones. They will keep the gums massaged and prevent infections in the places where the baby teeth fall out.
