if you ever found yourself in a survival situation and had no food but had your pet there, would you eat your pet to survive? I`ve always thought Lenas back legs looked like 2nice meaty turkeyleg portions.

Maggie would be too stringy, Roxie would be to fatty and add unhealthy cholestorol, but Brutus does have some nice looking thighs, hmmm let me think about that.

No, I would have to forage for berries and learn to eat ants or something...Of course Brutie is a great forager so we wouldn't starve...we would just have to share.

He might drag up garbage though...back to berries, leaves, ants or something.

NO!!! I'd consume my horses NOT my dogs!!! Consider that the horses are considerably more expensive too!!! During survival training in the military, I recall eating assorted bugs, lizards, mice, wild plants, etc.---rather tasty and nourishing!!! YUM!!!!!

I have learned alot of things from watching Survivor Man.

Depending on the area, cold or hot etc. Your dog might be more valuable for added warmth, than for food.

There are alot of nasty things I could find to eat in the a survival situation and my dog wouldn't be on the list. :)

I also think my dogs would be helpful in hunting for other food.

LOL. She's a proven Jack Rabbit killer. How she caught it is a mystery. Mind you she was about 5lbs lighter then too.

ok me too,but just say theres just you two in a boat in the middle of the sea and day by day you`re both getting thinner and theres no other way to get food and if your dog dies first you might as well eat it.after all it`s probly what they would want anyway.works they same both ways,if I died first I`d expect Lena or Rolo to tuck in.

I'd starve either way, not much meat on them bones. :p I could never see myself making that decision, it's like saying I'm going to eat a member of my family.

yeah my terriers would probly provide a rodent rich diet, presuming they`re willing to share after years of me not sharing my food with them.

This is coming from someone who cannot stand being hungry...I would never eat my dogs. Not even if they were already dead - that'd make me keel over and die, having a dead family member laying next to me.
