Ear mites or infection?

My 8 month old Shih tzu/Lhasa Apso. rubs his right ear on the floor and rolls around growling, he was ok the first day he arrived this statred the second day, I suspect mites maybe he picked up while strolling outdoors hes due for a vet trip today but still wanted to know if anyone has an idea if it could be that or infection.

Ear mites are transmitted from another animal who has them, so your pup would need to have come in contact with a cat or dog with them. They leave a nasty brown residue in the ear.

Either way, infection or mites, your pup needs to see a vet to be treated

It's a new dog... are mites possible? Sure. Ear infection possible? Sure. Your dog likes rolling around on the floor? Sure.

The vet will let you know about the medical stuff. You should also have them pluck the ears while you're in.
