Anyone feed it?

I have a 16.5 lb bag of the Holistics Lamb formula that I just started transitioning Ella onto yesterday.
I've read SUCH great things about it. My only REAL issue with it is the low protein. But I add fresh raw meats and foods to her kibble anyway. I kind of wanted something with protein a tad higher, though, for days I feel like only feeding kibble.
But I'll take this over a company as fickle as T.O. any day.

Orijen 6 Fresh Fish is in her rotation. I'm still on a hunt for that base kibble (you know, the kibble that you keep on hand when all else fails).

She got constipated on Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream. I had to get rid of the rest of the bag. I was disappointed because I was POSITIVE the food would work out for her, but alas, it did not.

I am a HUGE Eagle Pack fan. I love their customer service and their holistic formulas are great IMO.

It's next on my list of foods to try with Buddy if this ED is not successful. They make some great foods. :)

what do you all think about the lower protein, though?

Ella is 55 lbs.
If it were only higher by 3-4%, I wouldn't even ask about it. But 22% seems awfully low to me. Do you all know why it's so low?

I have fed Eagle Pack for the last 8 years and will never switch. As a breeder this is the only food I have found that keeps up their weight and gives them lots of milk. I feed the power pack with a 30/20 ratio. If the protien is 2 low try another brand unless you don't want the corn or wheat. I also use the chix/rice formula. The puppies do so well on it. This has a 24% protein. Even the duck is 23%. The only other suggestion is to supplement with Natural balance rolls to boost up the protien levels. There is no corn and the heart, lungs, kidney's are the main ingredients. My dogs go nuts over this for a treat or a supplement to their dry kibble. Even the most finicky will eat it. Good Luck.

Well, I tend to like anything 25-34/5% dry weight.
No more, on an everyday basis, than that, though. I do add raw meats to her kibble, but if I am in a hurry (like I'm ready to walk out the door for class and I realize, "OH CRAP! I FORGOT TO FEED ELLA!"), I'd want her to be ok with the protein in the kibble.

I'm going to try the duck formula on her next. I'm going tomorrow to get some canned meats and I have lamb steaks, veal, beef heart, and deer heart for her in the freezer. Plus, I give her canned sardines, plain yogurt, fruit and veggies.

I love eagle pack. Haven't fed it to my dogs much, but a good friend of mine has her 225lb Mastiff on it, and while I've known most dogs that size to break down and be physically quite weak, this boy is 6 years old and in incredible shape.

The protein and fat is too low for my Border Collies but I'm going to put Zaphod on it once he's hit his goal weight and isn't eating 8 cups a day.

I think the protein is a little low for my liking in most of their formulas, but adding some of their canned will boost that protein up at each feeding.

I had a ton of success with Eagle Pack. My dogs looked outstanding on it. In fact, that is what Alice ate her entire winning streak in the ring. She was in such fabulous condition and I blame that on Eagle Pack.

I don't feed it currently because I wanted a little more fat and protein. Next month they are coming out with toy and miniature breed holistic formulas. I have spoken with their nutritionist directly about the new formulas and they will be higher in fat and protein then what's out now so I am excited!
