Dry skin on Collie mix

New friend from the pound.
Started with Purina and switched a few weeks ago to Canidae.
Had him bathed and brushed yesterday.
Verdict was very dry skin.
Any sugestions?
Saw a beautiful Golden once. The owner said she gave her a piece of toast with real butter on it every morning.
Think that would work?

I've heard salmon oil works for dry skin. I've also heard that a raw egg in each meal works (that might be a myth I'll let the others verify it). you could also try another food, Canidae is awesome and probably what i will feed all my dogs but every dog is different and will respond to foods differently. You also could wait a little longer. I've heard it can take up to two months for full affect of a new food. Wait and hear what others say with more experience with this, I've never had a successful food change with my dog. I'd say adding salmon oil would be your best bet though.
