Howdy!!! Whenever I eat and cook outside (Bar B Q's) my dogs stare at me with that "Where's our portion" look!!! Nine pairs of heart melting, pleading eyes tempting me to give them "people" food is pure torture!!! Mind, I don't succumb to their desires but it's SOOOO.....difficult not to sneak a morsel to them. Do you give in to our beloved furry friends wishes or avoid those lovingly yearning eyes?

I have a weak hearted husband too and he's now paying the price with them begging at his chair side all the time. They know not to come to me, I'm that mean lady that doesn't share. I will put some food from some meals we've eaten in their bowls after I'm done eating, once in a while. That way I feel less guilty and it doesn't create a begging fest with pups at my feet...lol.

We do pretty much the same as Giny. Tira used to try and sit with her face at the edge of your leg almost breathing on our food but she was broken of that VERY quickly. We made her "lay down" every single time she tried that and now, when we sit down to eat we tell her "lay down" and she'll look at us, turn in a circle one time and lay down to wait. Afterwards, if there's veggies and potatoes left, we'll give her (and Gunner) a little but only if they do something (i.e. speak, talk, sit, etc). This way they are getting a reward for listening and not just a free hand out.
So far Gunner doesn't really bug us, but he'll make a grunting sound when he's sniffing the air as the food comes near him (like a baby bear sound). He pretty much just sits or lays down and waits.

Makes one feel so guilty not giving them a morsel or two; though I must admit giving them tidbits of leftovers as treats mixed in with their regular food but only AFTER we're done dining.

Lucas goes to his "spot" away from where I am eating when we eat. That way I don't have to look at his begging eyes :p He will get some treats after I'm done but not all the time, just once every few weeks.

my dog has a VERY cute face especially when youre sitting on the front room couch, she jumps up, puts her head on her paws and stares at you like a puppy. I do give her a bit but not lots. I try to ignore her but she nudges you alot the other day she did that while I was drinking tea and i spilt it all over me :D

Mason is always fed people food; just sticks to healthy stuff.

When we have hamburger meat; he gets some.
When we make chicken breasts; he gets the small/medium sized chunks that come off the main portion.

When not eating Innova; he enjoys food stew as I would call it
Hamburger meat
Green Beans
Chicken broth
Garlic clove

He gets Eggs for breakfast a lot of time. :)

They know that I'll share my last bite with them, and I've got Charley trained the same way now, lol! They remind me that they are there, but they've also figured out that if they bug me or do TOO much begging they'll have to forego the reward.

Tina always has an egg mixed in with her food for breakfast, I try to keep her off people food, but hubby also gives her a bit here and there. As long as she's ok, I guess it's ok with me.

I give them people food all the time... as long as it's healthy and easily digestable (chicken/hamburger/vegies/etc..)

The eyes don't phase me at all. In fact, I get rather annoyed at a staring dog assuming that I'm going to give them something. The eyes don't get them anywhere with me and they know it. I do give them little things every now and again when they're laying down nicely, not paying any attention to what I have.

Tira sloshed my milk the same way...nudging. I hate it when she does that and she knows she's not supposed to.

Anyways, is raw hamburger ok for a dog? Does it have to be frozen or thawed?

My dogs have always been good when we were eating. Now that it's just Chip and me, he sits and waits at my " brunch " for the last bite or my cereal bowl. Dinner time, the " leftovers " go to wards his next meal, but he washes the dishes. Right now I'm steaming some broccoli and califlower...He'll get the stems tomorrow , plus the skin from, my broiled halibut .
