Dog's eyes

How in the world do you get the glare out from dog's (or cat's) eyes when taking pictures. Is it the flash that's doing it? I've noticed a bunch of pics here without that glare.

Below is what I'm talking about. This is Ben, our 4 year old Newfy/Border Collie.

I have been pondering about that myself, Almost all of the pics I take of the animals have that shining!

I usually don't get that if I take pictures outside. Otherwise pictures of my dogs tend to make them look like demons LOL.
