Why do you have a 4 week old puppy? How long have you had him (her?) What was he on before? What breed? What condition is the puppy in?

What exactly do you mean? Can you elaborate some?

At one month old a dog should still be with it's mother. What happened to its mother?

You give that advice and you feed Iams? :rofl1:

Methinks something around here stinks and it's not the dogs.

Do not give the pupppy regular milk as someone stated. They can not digest the milk properly.

...no one said anything about milk?

...methinks these two trolls might be related...

No I only feed Purina Pro Plan becuase a long time breeder said that it's best for the coat and she swears up and down it's the best food out of ALL the foods for coat. She shows dogs too.

It's identicle to look, smell to the Iams and poo's also come out nice and hard but with even LESS odour. Very quality food. Highly recommend it.

I feed ProPlan when I can't afford the good stuff. I (and my dog lol) prefer Taste of the Wild, hands down.

Wait...you're getting your "advice" from Yahoo Answers? Eeks.

I just got done bottle feeding a litter of pups they were weaned and eating solid for at 4 wks. They are now 10 wks old.
Are you stealing someone else's story? I'm pretty **** sure you didn't do that.

If not, those poor pups. They should be nursing until 5-6 weeks ideally, heck i know some that let the mum wean the pups herself and they wean closer to 8-10 weeks!

And the food advice... You should take it yourself. Your dog is eating Purina...

Encase this isn't a troll, even though I feel it is. I'll post what I know from raising Upendi. She came to me at the tender age of four weeks. Mom was attacking the pups...quite literally and it was either with me or to the pound as the people were clueless.

Aaanyways, I got a good quality puppy food and I did mix in a little milk replacer, but only for about the first week. It's very important to make sure your pup doesn't get too cold or too hot as they aren't very good at regulating body temperatures yet at that age. I would also keep the pup away from any dogs unless you know for a fact that they are healthy and vaccinated. If at all possible and I can't stress this enough you should arrange 'playdates' with other members of the pups litter. The lessons they learn from each other are so so important. Trust me on that one, I had one hell of a time teaching Upendi bite inhibition...
