Dog vomitting for last 3 and half hours

Hi there,
Im new to this...but I was hoping someone might be able to help...
My dog, who sleeps inside with us, started vomitting at 5:30 this morning and has continued to do so every 10 to 15 minutes for the last 3+ hours..
His vomit is white and foamy... not very liquidy...
Any ideas?
The vet cant see him until later this afternoon, but of course Im a worried mom!!!

First off, let me apologize for missing your thread. I know you must have been beside yourself with worry. What did you find out at the vet's?

Next, I'm amazed that your vet did not have you bring the dog in immediately. Vomitting like that can indicate poisoning and is NOT something to put off for several hours. Even without the possibility of poison, the dog can be dangerously dehydrated by the time help arrives. That can be the difference between life and death. At the very least, I'd be having a talk with my vet, giving him/her that benefit of the doubt that the delay could have been an oversight on the part of an inexperienced staff member. If it was the vet's decision to delay, then I'd be in the market for a new vet immediately and I'd let the old one know - politely - why I was making the change and ask for a copy of my records to take to the new vet.

After waiting 4 plus hours at the vet... I decide to take him in and hope to see the vet right away at 930 in the morning... they gave him a shot and some meds... they think it was the antibiotic he was on for his anal gland infection... so he is off that for now and stopped throwing up soon after the shot... I love the doctors at the vet I see, unfortunetly there was only one of the three there is saturday and she had 6 other dogs that showed up throwing up... my luck! My dog didnt throw up during the 4 hour wait so I wasnt too upset about the wait... they did alot of apoligizing... Im sure if he had thrown up during our wait...like other dogs did, they would have gotten him in sooner... Anyway Thank God my little one is completely back to normal playing with our other dog...

I am glad to hear he is doing better. My dog gets a tummy ache when he is on antibiotics too!

All's well that ends well. It's generally a good idea to ask the vet if you should give antibiotics with food. Some of them can really cause a bad case of nausea on an empty stomach, but you have to check because others won't work properly if given with food.
