i just removed a dog tick from my laptop screen...*shudders*

it was a good sized tick, NOT engorged, no bite marks on ruby or jasper (both have advantix on so the thing would have died had it spent any time on them...)

checked both dogs over well, no bites, no ticks...
the only thing i can think of is that its come in on me...or that its hitched a ride on rubies fluffy legs and when it realized it was being poisened its climbed off...

very strange, especially considering we live in the middle of a city and there the only dogs in the building and the only place it could have come in from would have been the back yard...

*itches* ive checked all parts of me i can see (and are visible in a mirror) but im still itchy and paranoid now...

i hate ticks!

Eeeek, I'd be freaking out too. I've never been bitten by a tick (knock on wood* but I've flicked a fair few off my skin when I caught them crawling on me. The little suckers FREAK me out *shudder*

Me too! I track in tall grass and a couple of weeks ago I had 8 of them. My dogs had zero!

I've gone tracking in this park many times before without getting any ticks, and would have gone home that day oblivious. But a man came up to me and told me about it and helped pull most of them off of my sweatpants, and gave me some rubber bands.

I found more when I went to bed at night. Haven't gotten any since that day, though.

*shudders* ticks are sooo icky...ive been bitten a couple of times and am aparently sensitive to their bites (go figure i can sleep through a tattoo but i know the instant a tick bites me!) so usually get to them the moment they take their first nip..i hate pulling them off! *icky*

My parents think ticks are afraid of me lol... When I was something like two or three, the found be crying with a mouth full of blood. What happened was that I apparently thought an engorged tick was an M&M and tried to eat it.... GROSS. Since then I've never been bitten. Creepy, I know.

agreed...you know its going to be a horrible tick season when you get one in the middle of the city after being outside a total of 5 minutes in reacently mowed weeds (theres no grass just that wide leaf plantain and clover type stuff) with no bushes...

mabe ill start applying K9 Advantix to myself!

I hate fleas more than ticks... ticks can easily be spotted unlike fleas that comes in huge numbers.
