Hi,

Our goldens coat (lighter hair) under her neck is dirty from her tags.

What do you use to keep the aluminum tags from rubbing all over your dogs coat and if you use something where can I purchase it?

I guess I'm looking for some kind of a small case that snaps around the tags. The negative side to this is we won't be able to here her ;-)

Thanks for any suggestions,
Laura

They sell small fabric pouches that velcro over the tags. This will prevent the tarnishing you're seeing on the coat.

They're not too hard to find, most pet stores have them that I've found.

I had one for Sierra as I HATE the sound of tags jingling, a friend took it off to read her tags (just out of curiosity) and I forgot to replace it and misplaced it, and have been doing without for a while.

I have the same problem with my chihuahua, she has a light colored coat and it gets so dirty from the tags. Those fabric poaches sound like a good idea.

Hobby or hardware store . Or clear nail polish . Don't know about toxicity . Guess you could put clear packing tape on too .

Mick's tags were in a nylon wallet that slid over his collar called a Pet Pocket ID. Back then, it was the only thing I could find to hold his tags.

Caleb's tags are wrapped in a strip of velcro. It was real easy to make- I had pieces of velcro that were sold to bundle wires in. I used a hole punch to put a hole a little less then half way down a strip, and put a split ring key change on it. The tags are on another split ring key chain. I then wrapped the velcro around them, and put both key rings on the larger one that hangs on the collar D ring. A site called Taz Lab used to have a similar product, only the velcor was thinner.
