Today I saw something new (to me :p ) I saw a guy with a sled/chariot...actually not sure what to call it. Anyway this "Sled" had wheels and he was be pulled by one mixed breed dog. I wanted to ask him about it but he was moving pretty fast.

My question is, has anyone else seen one and if so where can you buy them? Got a link to a website?

Thanks

Hmm could have been something the guy just made himself...

For dryland training dogsledders usually use a rig, scooter, or bike to have their dogs pull.

This is my scooter which can be pulled by 1 or 2 dogs

This is my rig that usually gets pulled by 3+ dogs

I dont let my dogs pull me on my bike or on rollerblades (another method), there is less control and more danger IMO

What I saw as kind of a cross between the two set ups you have. It was small like your scooter but it had four wheels and a larger handles.

I've never heard of dry sleds. I think I might be scared to get one though because my dog gets so excited when we go for walks! If she were to be leading the way, who knows where we'd end up lol!

Not sure how my dogs would take it...Sal might enjoy it for a while but I think Athena would look at me like "You must be crazy if you think I am going to pull your &$% down the road"

I think it would be a great way to exercise your dog if you got them used to it at a younger age.

You can also have them pull you on your bike, they actually have races for it its called Bikejoring.

I do that stuff with Riot (not competing though).

The Dryland carts are so neat! Tim in sort of in the process of designing his own for our dogs here.

Here's a link to one of the very well made, but also costly rigs that people who race dryland use.

(I rode on one at last years OFSS Symposium... sweet dirt sled but way out of my price range!)
Dryland is gaining popularity in North America (although it's already pretty popular in the rest of the world) because as any sledder will tell you, the last few winters we've had have been pretty bad for being out to get out on the sled.

Shorter coats are preferable... I forget where but I brought it up in another topic, that there are world dryland championships and everything :)

I there was a company that made sleds that had wheels you could attach for non snow conditions. I dont know if they still have a website, it was a few years ago. I'll try and re-find it.
I myself use a bike and ATV. I'd be a little nervous trying a cart, I like the added stability of the ATV. (Even though I've already rolled it once, lol)
