My dog is shedding a ton. We are pretty sure his dad has alot of lab in him and a girl i work with has had labs since she was younger(shes 50) and says thats normal.

She says that shes uses a shedding blade on her lab and its never ending hair.
Are there any other reasons that he would be shedding this much. It started when it got warmer, which is normal, but he just sheds so much i worry about him.

Theres no bald spots or anything and we dont use any shedding brushes or blades, besides are hands. His coat is still very thick

I think it's normal, he's just a lab. My house is slowly but surely filling up on hair too.

What do you feed? It might help decreasing shedding if you feed a good food.

My mom has a lab mix and he sheds like crazy all year round so my guess is as long as there isn't any bald spots or anything it's just normal lab shedding. :)

I fall to my knees and thank God everytime I read about this...Virgo just does not shed. Much. Nothing like what most Labs do...I can't get anything off her when I run my hand down her back and it even takes some work with my Zoom Groom to get much accumulated. I also blow out her coat every two weeks with a high-powered grooming dryer, so that probably has something to do with it.

I have a lab and she sheds CONSTANTLY. We use an undercoat rake, zoom groom, and a shedding blade on her and she still sheds a ton. We even switched her food and nothing seems to work. It's just labs though they shed a lot, it's perfectly normal. We're suprised Hannah has not gone bald because of how much she sheds!

Gunner is only 6 months old and hasn't started the constant shedding (little or alot). Tira is 2 yrs. old and she just started her massive shedding for the first time a couple months ago. Now she constantly wants her butt and lower back scratched to help loosen the hair.
I was told not to use a shedding blade but rather a rubber type brush that will just pull the dead/shedding hair out. Something about breaking off good hair with the blade or something.

Good Luck!

A Zoom Groom works well on getting out some of the lab fur. It's best just to get used to it though. I once read that lab hair is both an accessory and a condiment. That pretty much sums it up!
