My family has never had good luck with males. Two took off never to return, and one got hit by a car on his way to take off. The four females never took off. They always come back if they get loose. I have never really met a male dog that was interested in me more than the fact that my dog was female. We had one that followed us apple picking for over an hour so he could follow our spayed female who wanted nothing to do with him.

So yeah, our family only has females in dogs and cats. Spayed of course. And we've never had problems with multiple females fighting either. And according to dad we will never have another male dog.

my family has had both. when i went out to get a dog i wanted a boy dog. turns out i got a girl dog! she's really cute though and she's been learning a ton of commands. she likes cuddling up and watching tv more than anything though... well aside from her rope toy

yeah, i agree with zoom...although i have no personal experience with females...

the only reason i am posting in this thread is to say i hate when females are referred to as bitches, lol...ugh, that gives me the heebie jeebies every time i hear it...even though it is correct....anyways...continue on :p
I am glad to see that the computer has freed up the use of the word at last.

In actuality, the word refers ONLY to female PUREBRED dogs. The only correct word for a female purebred IS bitch. It is not the fault of the dog world if ignorant outsides misuse the word. After all, look what they did with the name and title of our Lord!!!! And even with our Maker, for heavens sake. What chance do poor little dogs have?!

As far as gender (after all, SEX is a bad word too. I prefer LOVE to SEX) neutered males tend to be more loving, especially with a female owner. And for some reason, females seem to be more devoted to a male owner. Go figure, rofl.
