Hi guys

Anyone watches dog movies? What are your favorites? Maybe naming a few of the movies that you watched, will be nice so that I can see what dog movies I did not watch yet ^_^

The last one I've watched a couple of months ago was of a movie that was SO touching!!! Made me cry like a baby. It is based on a real story that happened in Japan of a shiba inu dog and the love/loyalty that he had for his master/owner. After his master's death, he waited every day at the train station that his master comes home to for 10 years. (I have to admit that I went searching about the breed after watching this movie). The movie is called Hachiko: A Dog's story

That movie is in my new fave list of movies!
I just wonder if there are some dog movies that I have not watched yet.

I've seen quite a few over the years, Old Yeller, Benji, a bunch of Lassie ones, 101 Dalmatians (animated and live action) etc. Back when it came out, my husband took me to see "The Adventures of Yellow Dog, Far From Home" (I think that was the name). It was OK. Not worth the price of a theater ticket, but I would rent it or watch it on TV. Believe it or not, one movie I really liked was Disney's Snow Dogs. I just loved how true to life they portrayed the Siberians. Another really good movie was Eight Below- sad, but good (uh, can you tell we have a thing for Siberians in my house?).

I loved Hachiko. Sooo sad, I bawled like a baby in my room by myself late at night.

Marley and Me. I've seen it like 4x and I cry at the end EVERY time, but I still love the movie.

I really loved Oliver and Company (cartoon) as a kid, as well as 101 Dalmatians (both cartoon and real people).

Homeward Bound! Loooveee this movie. Haven't watched it in years tho. I really need to see it again.

Far From Home. I think this was about a boy and his dog who got lost out in the woods together and waiting for someone to save them.

Air Bud was my FAV as a young kid. They've made a ton of these Air Bud spin-offs but most of them are kind of dumb... like Snow Buddies, etc. They did do 2 others with the original kid from Air Bud... a football one, and soccer, I think?? But I only really like the original.

Umm... some more 'recent' movies would be Hotel for Dogs, Snow Dogs, Eight Below, Beverley Hills Chihuahua (I didn't like this one, it was cute for kids and all, but I didn't really like it, lol), Cats and Dogs. Oh, and Bolt! I loved Bolt (I think it was maybe Pixar movie? Or maybe just Disney).

Yeah, but the kid got saved first, then the dog came home (who, btw was a yellow Lab. LOL)

...Beverley Hills Chihuahua (I didn't like this one, it was cute for kids and all, but I didn't really like it, lol), Cats and Dogs...
Oh, I forgot about those. Cats and Dogs was cool because of the uncommon breeds of dogs. I was surprised that I liked Beverley Hills Chihuahua. I'm so not the girly type, nor a little dog person. But boy was that a good movie! We took our grand daughter to see it.

Thanks for your input guys - loved the review on some too ^_^ I just added a few into my list of movies to watch :D

I sure could tell.

Same here. I went crazy over part one (basketball). Kevin Zegers is the original kid in 3 parts of them and I looooved those so much.

I love love LOVED Eight Below.

I think most of the ones I remember watching are Disney films... Old Yeller, Big Red, The Incredible Journey (the original - the animals don't talk), The Ugly Dachshund, Lassie Come Home, The Biscuit Eater...

For a fun, uplifting story try Plague Dogs.
For anyone who has never seen Plague Dogs, listen to Sekah. :p

Some of my favorites:
Hachiko: A Dog's Story
Eight Below
Lassie Come Home
Son of Lassie
Courage of Lassie
Homeward Bound
Call of the Wild
White Fang
Marley and Me

Beverly Hills Chihuahua (didn't think I would like it, but I really did)
Shiloh
Where the Red Fern Grows
Old Yeller
Bolt (same with Beverly Hills Chihuahua, I didn't expect to like it so much)

Umm. . .I actively seek out movies about dogs, so I've seen a lot of them, both popular and very obscure, and I know I've forgotten a bunch of them.
Also, movies like Where the Red Fern Grows and Old Yeller, etc., the books are way better. Of course.

Has anyone seen Baxter? I know it's extremely disturbing, but I haven't seen it, and I'd like to hear from someone who has.

P.S. Someone start a similar thread about dog books! Or I will after I take a nap. :p
