I am not fond of being licked either to tell the truth. Especially on the face. So i understand. I guess i gently discourage, because Mary is a Kisser, a little quick one more a smooch then a scrub, and Bronki was a nudger, that i miss so bad i can almost feel him nuzzle and he just isn't here. Victor wanted to lick so i offer the back of my hand. HE seems to know i don't mind it there, or a quick lick of my arm but after that i rub ears or hold the head in my hands and rub the skin around the eyes, scratching the neck in all those blissful places, they feel too good to continue, anything to put a halt on being covered with spit. I wish i had better advice but diverting is all i have ever done and they seem to have gotten the hint. I have never scolded or pushed them away, that would be the wrongest of wrongs for such a show of love.

We've been taking her to the beach the last few days, she's learning about other dogs, she's a bit timid but mostly ignores them. She lies us up one at a time then just jumps at our chests

I HATE licking! It's definitely gross and creepy. Wally doesn't lick and I love him for it. Teeny, on the other hand, will do "sneak attack" licks where she comes up behind you and licks your elbow. GROSS!! In addition to her face, arm, leg, foot, etc, licks. Basically if she licks me all play/attention stops and I walk away. I HAVE given in and she is allowed to lick my feet, but only because I find both feet and licking disgusting so I'm a o k with that. But anything beyond feet is not allowed. So far it's cut her licking in half, but she definitely still does it! Once a licker, always a licker . . .

I'm going to send Daisy to lick all you guys who don't like being licked. You've NEVER been licked until Daisy does it to you! Imagine a tongue the size of a ham steak washing over your face. She even licks my bald head. And if you don't keep your mouth closed, yes, she will French you. Her tongue is so long that she can reach you from amazing distances. Then add in her height, where her face is the same height as yours when you are sitting in a chair- she doesn't have to reach up or anything to get you. All you can do is grab her collar and try to keep her at arms length when you've had enough.

Baby is a Great Pyr, and like all of them, a slobber puss. She has the wettest mouth, so watch out when she kisses. I think it is funny.

Zoe is queen of the lickers! I don't mind because I know it's her way of showing affection. If I start getting tired of it, or if she's licking an area I'd rather she didnt'- like my toes, I just say "No kisses!!" and she stops.

Collie=nose pokes ad nauseum. Everywhere. Any time. In perpetua.

Seriously, I let Tosca lick me, but only when I think it's ok. It's usally not ok if I am on my way out the door to a wedding. But if I am on the floor with her goofing around, it's fine with me so long as I can get my glasses off first before she turns them into foggy slime.

Bodhi doesn't get any attention when she licks me - I stand up and I don't look at her..

She knows now. Kisses on MY terms only.

But you see - she knows that other people don't know this tactic, and she will lick them

LOL Beezer is a sneak attack kisser. he will sneak up behind you and lick your arm or wherever. I always know when it's him that comes in in the morning because he just HAS to get in one lick. But I can't prevent it because Brian seems to like it at times and lets them have at it lol but they seem to know I don't like it a whole lot so they lay off the kisses with me. Unless I kiss them first I will plant a big ol kiss right on their lips and I get one back. Mostly I do this at night when I am saying good night to them.
