what do dog lice eggs(nits) look like?
my dog seems to have some dry skin flakes in his ear, probably due to the fact that i havent been able to clean his ears since he was in an elizabethan collar after his surgery, but how can you tell the difference between skin and lice eggs? i do have him on frontline though, which is supposed to treat lice and he's not itching his ears or losing hair or anything like that.

just taking a precaution, so maybe i should take him to the vet?

Well, since nobody else is answering, I'll give it a shot...

Lice in dogs isn't really that common, and it certainly isn't severe or difficult to treat. Actually, I personally would have never considered lice if my dogs were on Frontline. Dry skin in the ears is fairly normal, or so I've found, and I wouldn't worry about it unless it becomes very excessive, or he starts itching at his ears. The first symptoms of lice, or so I understand, is itching. If it gets worse, or bothers you, by all means-- schedule a vet appointment, or mention it on your next visit.
