yesterday a 1 year old boy was killed by a bull breed dog in leeds uk. This is a tradic accident and really do feel for the boy and family. Now bull breeds have a bad reputation over here as it is, but first on the news it was said it was american pitbull, which stated that is not banned in the uk which it is, then they said it was a bull mastiff, then american bulldog, but showed a picture of a bristish bulldog. Now i think they have the correct breed, american bulldog. The only reason why the dog let go of the childs neck, was bcos thier other family dog attacked the dog to protect the boy, but unfortunalty the boy died.

This is such a horrible tradly, But with having bull breeds with a bad reputation as it is, why is it that each breed they mention is a bull breed.

Oh my goodness...that is a tragedy indeed. I also feel for the child who died, as well as the dog. It's so unfortunate that this happened. The truth of the matter is that any dog could be capable of this if not raised in a proper manner. I feel so bad that this particular breed has gotten such a bad reputation, because most often they are awesome, sweet dogs.

How sad!!

well, the dog was brought up as normal, in the garden then attacked the child, its such a horrible thing, i dont know what i would b like if it happened to me.

About a yr ago the police got to gether with the kc and mp about putting the american bulldog on the banned breeds list but they decided not to, now they might rethink and decide to ban the breed, which i hope they dont do.

What another heartbreaking story and I dont want to point fingers either, but where were the parents at the time of the attack and yes I believe the heat could have had an effect on the dog. I know its been real hot here to and you cant put your bare feet on the ground without them burning in seconds. Rest in peace little angel boy

Where were the adult resposible owners of the dog? This never should have happened, dogs no matter what breed are suppose to be supervised at all times and all children should never ever have access to any dog. Even if tied up on your own property a child could wander in, dogs should be in fenced in yards, with locked gates or under direct supervision. No matter what breed, any dog can bite or even kill.

Where are Mom & Dad? The other family dog stepped in to help the boy???

Such a tragedy......Accidents can happen, but this is sooo tragic.

It almost seems as though those responsible for the boy should have known of any tendancies of the dog and should have taken precautions.

I believe it is not the particular breed, but ignorant or stupid owners.

All dogs should be watched when with young children. Even a small breed could scar a childs face.

While I trust my dogs with my children, I am always cautious, as with everything.

I hope this never happens again.
