I have a 4 month old lab/golden cross and he loves his food up until a couple of days ago. He always eats it really fast when it is put in front of him, but recently he will start to eat it then stop and come over to me for affection. Only after i bring him back to his dish and talk to him will he finish it, and sometimes he will leave it. There has been nothing that has changed, eating times the same, location and dog food nothing changed. Could it be possible that he wants a different type of dog food or is something wrong? Could it be that he is loosing his baby teeth and his mouth is sensitive, but he loves his chew toys! He is very healthy though gaining weight and very active!
Any help would be great!!!

If he's growing like he should, I wouldn't worry about it too much right now. Just be careful that he's not training you into hand-feeding him! :) And he could just be being difficult. I was all worried last week when my Aussie wouldn't eat his breakfast and then I realized that it was a form of protest against it being my day off and therefor a non-daycare day for him.

Out of curiosity, what are you feeding him?

I can tell you that both my dogs just take a notion every so often (more often than I'd like!) to not eat. you may have read prior posts where it is recommended that you pick up the food after a time (15 mins., I think..you can search the topics for exact info) just know that they will eat when they are hungry! don't let him come to you for affection...put down the food and stand away avoiding contact so that he concentrates on the task. he may just be distracted by your affection given. :) :)
