My dog's nose is warm and dry, isn't it supposed to be cool and moist? What could cause that and is she ok?

She should be fine, that whole nose being wet thing is a myth. Max always got a dry nose because when he slept on the couch his nose would be pressed up against the cushion and the couch sucked all the moisture out. So long as everything else is normal I would not worry.

Actually, I've read that if your dogs nose is dry you can try rubbing some peanut butter on it so he will lick it off and wet it. If it dries up, just add more peanut butter.

I've also heard that you can lick your dog's nose to moisten it. If your dog has a dry nose for too long he can die... so make sure to lick it every 10 minutes for him.

Or you can spit on it, and just use your fingers to rub the spit around and make sure its get good and rubbed in, I find that doing it that way, you have to do it about every 7 minutes

Either of the three methods would work. I think the key is that it has to be saliva because of the enzymes. People saliva will work, but dog saliva might work better. Could you get spit/drool from another dog and rub it on there?

This could get serious if it stays dry for too long.

If it comes down to it, you may want to get a second dog... solely for the purpose of nose licking. You'll need to get a good trainer so that the new dog will know its purpose is for licking noses. Make sure you get an ultra slobbery breed for this.

I think they have a certain working breed who are bred just to lick dry dog noses... Sinus Hounds. Yeah, look into getting one of those.

I have heard K-Y jelly is good for 'lubricating' noses. But you should stay way from vasaline

Personally I'd gather a Filas's drool and put it into a spray bottle . I'm sure Renee could ship you some .
