dog fighting

I'm not sure who watched the news last night, but I had to turn it off(in Vegas). My heart is so sad right now. I guess Michael Vick of the Atlanta Falcons is being investigated for dog fighting on the grounds of his personal residence. They mentioned if the dogs lost they would be drown, electrocuted or shot. I had to turn it off, so please tell me I am mistaken, but if anyone has heard anything I wanted to know. Also, then I get to work today and turn on the computer and first thing on MSN news is dog fighting as a sport and how popular it is becoming again. I couldn't even read the article I was already in tears. I really thought our society was getting smarter about how to treat animals and not more ignorant. Please tell me we are not going in this direction. I'm really not sure what to do about it, but just thought I would put it out there for anyone to comment on.

Great thanks. I try to look for threads about it first before I post, but I didn't come across this one. I'm still not very good at finding things on here. I'm so so sick over this. This is becoming more and more common in the news and I'm just glad I don't own a gun.

Gotta admit that as a general rule, I think more of most animals . . . they aren't nearly the destructive creatures that we are. That being said, I'm not ready to allow what some sub-species of human does have the power to turn me into a mirror image of them.
