Hi

My 4 month old springer eats hourse pooh and cow packs. Is this ok?.

I could be taking it for a walk, and then as it walks past it picks up a mouth full and swallows it.

Thanks

He can possibly pick up parasites, so you'll need to watch for that, but it's a common enough appetite in dogs  Mine just LOOOOOVE baby calf poo . . . especially when it's still light and milky colored [gag]

Gross to us, normal to them LOL

Yes I agree about the parasites, you have to be careful there.

My boofer loves it when Becker leaves cat crunchies in the tray ewwwwwwwww..

Its a rarity however, as Becker sleeps inside at night, and the tray is emptied and cleaned each day, so usually he does his buisness at night, but sometimes of course he will do one through the day.

Disgusting habit but they loveeeeeeee it

My dog eats the cats crap as well. Like you said we think it is gross but it is normal.
I asked the vet about it cause my dog had worms. he said the dog can't get worms from eating the cats crap.
Since then we have put a board in front of the cat litter. I was afriad the cat would not go there now, but he does.
Now to deal with potty training the dog. She is 6 months now and we have had her for 2 months. She will go outside when you take her but if given the chance she will go inside.

Check into your dogs diet, compulsive eating of feces (coprophagia) normally happens when there is a vital nutrient missing from his diet. This behavior is NOT normal! Most commercial pet foods are actually not the nutrious for dogs and are full of fillers and pretty much crap. Try switching to a high quality food like Nutro Max, which has no byproducts or fillers. Also get some doggie vitamims, see if that helps.

Actually, cophragy is a common, normal occurence. Sometimes it is caused by a lack in diet, but more often it's just because they're dogs and that's what they do. Mine do it on occasion with the cow pies, and trust me, they aren't lacking in nutrition . . . They've eaten EVO from the day they came home (along with whatever fast food -e.g. squirrel, rabbit, groundhog, etc. they catch) . . .

Yeah, My new puppy eats cat and our other dogs crap, I try to stop him as much as I can, and clean our yard. As for the cat crap, We no longer have the kitty litter box. Man it gives him bad breath and he DID catch worms from eating this. I REALLY hope he stops soon.
