Okay...time for everyone to fess up...

What's the worst thing your dog has destroyed in your home? Up until tonight, I would have said shoes, but tonight Megan got a hold of an ink pen, and proceeded to chew it all over our sofa, hardwood floors, and herself.

So, my misery needs company....

**tries not to strangle puppy**

Orson ate the family room couch.

This was when he was around 7-8 months old and he was supervised constantly because he was going through his disobedient teenage stage, but on this occasion I was paying bills online and he wandered off alone. He went into the family room and for whatever reason he decided to rip up the couch. It took all of about 20 minutes of being alone

Phoebe came and ratted him out, but it was too late to save the couch. It looked like a blizzard had struck in that room, LOL

It all worked out though.............I HATED that couch :rofl1:

The worst thing Dance ever destroyed was my mom's nail file thing... in fact, I'm pretty sure that was the only thing she's ever chewed.

Keira's nibbled on a shoe, but has yet to destroy anything.

Winston was 7 when we got him, so way past his puppy stages, but he's never destroyed anything either.

But a past Rottweiler of ours, Echo, chewed a half of our couch and all of the bottom of a chair when she was about a year. My dad suddenly decided that crating a year old dog was cruel and left her loose in the house while we were gone... I think he learned his lesson that day. She was the last dog who ever chewed and destroyed anything though. All of our puppies since her have been great as far as that goes.

Oh, and Phoebe went through her own destructive youth when she was first adopted.

She ate bed legs, toys, broom handles, countless small things inside. But the topper was once we left her alone in the backyard (privacy fenced) and went to the grocery (about an hour long trip, probably less) and came home to EVERY PLANT chewed to the ground................this was quite a large number of plants and the most amazing was our 6 foot high climbing wild rose bush with HUGE thorns. Every last plant was chewed completely down to the ground!

She didn't have one scratch or mark on her mouth or anywhere else. I will NEVER know how she did all that so fast without hurting herself

If there has EVER been a time when I thought of rehoming................

First things first...lots and lots of rubbing alcohol or cheap hair spray and white wash cloths/paper towels and you'll have your couch back to presentable. I too have a pen loving dog LOL! If there comes a time to replace it, look hard at microfiber! Drool marks, puke, ink, pasta sauce, and so on all wipes off with a damp cloth. Amazing stuff!

I think the worst loss I ever had was a 55 gallon fish tank. Years ago I had a dane and she got the zoomies in the house. It involved a broom handle and a VERY fast 90lb 9 month old dog. I couldn't get it stopped in time. Thank goodness it was in the basement with a floor drain.

Mom has lost two couches in the barn...they were "donated" to the dogs so no huge loss. The volume and spreadability of couch guts is quite impressive though. Her window sills ALL are pocked and missing chunks from a teething Pyr. The finish on the hardwood floor in the kitchen is being eaten away by drool. That one blows my mind!

We have two or three tiny teeth marks on the window sill where Meg sits, and I have two teeth marks on the handle part of my remote control. Yes, she was an adult when I got her, although she'd never been in a house. She is SUCH a good dog.

<<HUGS>> thats never fun, if it makes you feel any better, the worst thing Duke ever destroyed was my eye brow ring- yes that's right while I was wearing it! He was only 9-10 weeks and we were playing, when he shot up and latched onto my eyebrow ring, his weight alone ripped it pretty much out of my face, I didn't even know pain like that exsisited.

Oh and his sister, before she passed away during her crazy puppy boxer years ate my cousins friends bike, the tires, the seat, the leather off the handlebars, onlly the skeleton remained!

harv pretty much destroyed the carpet in my livingroom and my second bedroom with his pee, but he couldn't help that. poor old guy.

none of my dogs have been destructive with their teeth, bless them. luce chewed a belt once when she was young, and i lost a tshirt to an impromptu game of tug, but that's about it.

Lucy. . .she's chewed the legs of a beautiful teak desk belonging to my late grandfather, the corner of my dresser, a lot of underwear , my cell phone antenna, my cell phone charger, the carpet, etc., etc.

I've had Millie her whole life, and she has only ever destroyed a couple of socks. She was a remarkably well-behaved puppy.

Auggie got into my paints once and chewed one of the paint tubes. It was, thankfully, non-toxic.
He ate a hair clip once - one of those "claw" kinds that my sister left where he could reach.
He chewed up a brand new "tomato" I bought for sewing pins. Thank GOD it was brand new, and I had not put the pins into it yet. He also chewed up my brand new measuring tape.
My favourite pair of flip-flops... I know I've told that story on here before... BUT... he got revenge for me. My mom took a pair of high heels to a shoe place and had new tips put on the heels. These were some of her favourite high heels... and they had a little bow on the toe.
She brought the newly repaired shoes home and, instead of putting them back in their plastic shoe box and putting them into the closet, she set them on the floor... and...
Bow + Auggie = chewing love.

Note that EVERY single time Auggie has eaten something he's not supposed to have, it's been while my mom is "watching" him... *facepalm*

The thing is that it happened so QUICK! I ran to the bathroom, and came out to this disaster. That'll teach me to pee...:p

I love her to death, but she's naughty. Don't get me wrong...we're going through obedience classes, and she listens to me, but she just watches for my head to turn, lol. I guess this is what is called the "teenage" period.

I never had any major problems with my Goldens , but Ollie did get hold of my shoe when I first got him . The worst was by my dear Granddog Maggie May . I had it high on a shelf , but she managed to get down my original 1905 Steif Teddy Bear that was going on e-bay for $1500 . I'm hoping to at least sell the pieces . Yes , I cried !!!!!:(

Chewing? Not much. A few knick knacks, a couple dog-hairbrushes, and a Library book.

General destruction? DON'T GET ME STARTED. He's a klutz. And when he gets bored he just loves to knock over potted plants and roll in the dirt.

Let's see...

Nik chewed the wallpaper off the wall- a big hole. Trey chewed a table leg. Beau was just a hooligan, he's torn up shoes, toys (anything that looks like it could be his). Harry pulled a circle of the carpet out. Rose has chewed up fake flowers many times.

ETA: Nik's favorite thing was to chew underwear, particularly when you were on your period. Or she'd leave tampons/pads strewn about the house that she'd get from the trash. Ewww....

Maggie has destroyed multiple of my flip-flops (never Justin's), my Crocs work shoes, Justin's Guinness hat (that's the only thing of his she ever destroyed and I bought him a new one), a couple sets of blinds, a few rugs, her dog bed, a few blankets, a hammer, the Wii remote jacket, the cat's food bowl, a box full of trash bags.

She's getting better though. She hasn't chewed anything up she wasn't supposed to for approximately ... 1 month! I've learned to keep buying her new and interesting toys to chew. Not to mention she has NO access to my shoes.

Reggin chew up the carpeting at a pricey motel. Should have had a crate, but we did not because we could not fit one into our jam packed vehicle. He was 3 months at the time.

When my moms dog was in heat and got her nasty fluids on the floor in one spot, Reggin chewed and dug a hole through the hardwood floor. One in a bedroom and one in the living room.

He also likes digging holes in the yard.

Well . . . there was the time Tallulah ate that brand new pair of Merrell sandals . . .

And you guys know about Kharma's history of breaking windows (I now, after she broke a pane out of the window my bed's in front of, have decorative iron bolted over the windows - on the inside) . . . And there's the ten pound bag of flour that she and Tallulah somehow managed to get off of the TOP OF THE REFRIGERATOR  and made it snow all over my bed and the bedroom floor (do you have any idea how hard a substance is made when you mix flour with Fila drool and let it dry?).

Kharma also did a thorough job of destroying all but one of the remotes when she was a pup. She got a portable phone as well.

Oh! I almost forgot . . . Tallulah has a thing for foam rubber. She found one of the broken places on the old leather on the Recarro seats in the 318 and pulled some of the foam off of the side  Terriers . . .
