It says the Chesapeake Bay Retriever "originated as small water dogs in Newfoundland." Hmmm...the last I checked the Chesapeake Bay was in Maryland/Virginia in USA, not Canada.

There are also no such colors as straw, red or gold in the Chessie. Colors are deadgrass, ash, sedge and brown.

Nice site, but the first page I went to was the "Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever" page, for obvious reasons and thought I'd tell you of a few changes that need to be made...:)

Appearance:
What is the general appearance of a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever? The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever has a short, soft, dense water repellant coat. The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever breed comes in a variety of colors including red, gold, orange, and copper.
The way I would've written this paragraph and others would be the following:

What is the general appearance of the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever? The NSDTR (or Toller, for short) has a dense, water repellent double coat that is medium-long in length. A coat such as this requires consitant grooming and upkeep. Tollers don't come in many colours, but do come in a variety of shades of red and orange. This can include anything from a very deep, rich red to a pale orange colour. Tollers should also have some white, either on the paws, chest, face, and/or tail tip.

Size:
How big is a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever? With regards to size, the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever is a medium size dog. The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever can weigh in at up to 45 pounds in weight. The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever is a member of the Sporting group.
How big is a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever? Tollers are a medium sized dog. Female Tollers are anywhere between 37-45lbs, and are 17-20 inches tall at the withers (18" being the ideal). Males are between 45-51lbs, and are 18-21 inches tall at the withers (19" being the ideal). The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever is a member of the Sporting group.

Temperament:
What does a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever act like? The temperament of a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever is alert, outgoing, and intelligent. The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever is good with children. The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever can make a good house pet if properly trained.
What exactly is the temperament of the NSDTR? The ideal Toller temperament is highly active, very energetic and outgoing, highly intelligent (which isn't always a good thing!), alert, playful, and affectionate. Tollers, just like any other breed of dog if raised and trained properly can be wonderful dogs with children and make excellent family pets if the owner is willing and able to keep up with the grooming, high activity, and other qualities that come with this breed.

Tidbits:
What other interesting tidbits should I know about the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever breed? The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever can also be referred to as the Little River Duck Dog that loves to hunt waterfowl.
What other interesting tidbits should you know about the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever? The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever was originally bred to 'toll' (which means to lure or entice) ducks and other water fowl closer to shore so the hunter could have a more successful hunt. This was done by playful retrieving sticks and such out of shallow areas of the water, and they say that the flashy red coat and white markings of this breed triggered the ducks' curiosity which lured them in closer to shooting range. After that, the dog was then sent out to retrieve the dead bird. Tollers originated in and around Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia, Canada. Before the name "Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever" was given to the breed, they were called "Little River Duck Dogs" aswell as "Yarmouth Tollers". Something else you should know about the breed is, though Tollers may look like they could be miniature Golden Retrievers to the untrained eye - they are not. Tollers are not much like a Golden Retriever at all. Tollers can also be somewhat reserved around strangers and people they don't really know well, and save most of their exuberance for their family.

I hope I didn't come off as being rude! I just don't like to see any information about Tollers incorrect as they are already not very widely known about as it is and msot people do think that they are just like Goldens, in a small package. Like I said, overall the site looks wonderful but a few touch ups do need to be made to a lot of the breeds (I would've gone through more, but I thought just one was enough...lol)!

Nice site :) They are good with the children they are raised with....They are and can be very aloof with strangers...They are also very protective and territorial..They are independent and they definitely need a understanding of their place in the family

Appearance:
What is the general appearance of a Coton De Tulear? The Coton De Tulear has a single fine, long, wavy coat. The Coton De Tulear can vary in color including white, lemon, and gray.
There is no such color as lemon, Cotons that are white from birth may have a yellowish tinge around their mouth as an adult but it is not a color. Grey is not a color either. The colors are white and black, however pups can be born totally white, or with black or brown on them.

I think that you should add the fact that they can be born with certain colors on their fur that will most likely turn lighter as they get older. Pups with brown on them usually turn totally white or end up having small dark tips on their ears. Pups with black are a gamble, some grow up to be completely white OR they end up keeping the black fur, which may appear grey from a distance. You can tell if black pups will turn white by checking their fur close to their skin, if it's light than he/she will be completely white as an adult but if it's black all the way to the skin than he/she will remain black in those areas.

Tidbits:
What other interesting tidbits should I know about the Coton De Tulear breed? The Coton De Tulear is part of the Bichon Frise and Italian Bolognese dogs and dates back to the 1600's.
That is unclear, IMO. It's part of the bichon family, and breeds like Havanese, Bolognese, etc are also members of that family. It isn't part of the dog. :p

Of course I went to the Labrador Retriever page (after seeing the nice layout of the home page :) )

Size--The height at the withers for a dog is 22½ to 24½ inches; for a bitch is 21½ to 23½ inches. Any variance greater than ½ inch above or below these heights is a disqualification. Approximate weight of dogs and bitches in working condition: dogs 65 to 80 pounds; bitches 55 to 70 pounds.

Appearance:
The most distinguishing characteristics of the Labrador Retriever are its short, dense, weather resistant coat; an "otter" tail; a clean-cut head with broad back skull and moderate stop; powerful jaws; and its "kind," friendly eyes, expressing character, intelligence and good temperament.

Temperament:
The ideal disposition is one of a kindly, outgoing, tractable nature; eager to please and non-aggressive towards man or animal.

Tidbits:
Labrador is believed to have originated on the island of Newfoundland, now part of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. It is thought to have descended from the St. John's Water Dog (no longer in existence), a crossbreed of native water dogs and the Newfoundland to which the Labrador is closely related.

The Shetland Sheepdog comes in a variety of colors including black, white, blue, and tan
The actual colors recognized are sable and white, blue merle, or tri-color. A sheltie should not be more than 50% white.

You are right - Chesapeake Bay is in the united states, but the origins of this breed trace back to newfoundland.

I looked at the rottie page. Here is what it says about the Rottweiler:
What is the general appearance of a Rottweiler? The Rottweiler has a coarse, dense, double coat. The Rottweiler can come in a variety of colors including black, white, gray, tan, rust, and brown.
Rottweilers do not come in these colors. Rottweilers are black (SMOOTH COATED) with clearly defined rust or mahogany markings. Never should a Rottweiler be gray, white, or solid black, tan, rust, and brown like your site describes, or be "a variety of colors." Talk more about the basic build; muscular, deep-chested, with a broad head, drop ears, and a black nose. Rottweilers can vary from about 80-120 pounds, and about 22-27 inches tall.

What does a Rottweiler act like? The temperament of a Rottweiler is calm, confident, and intelligent. The Rottweiler breed is good with children. The Rottweiler breed makes a great house pet if you train them properly.
Also include that Rottweilers need a gentle, but firm hand to guide them in training, and should be extremely socialized and is usually a little wary of strangers and especially affectionate with family.
Rotts should be with an experienced owner.

What other interesting tidbits should I know about the Rottweiler breed? The Rottweiler originated in Europe during the Roman Empire. The Rottweiler was bred with other herding dogs in Germany to create a "super" herding dog.
It sounds like you're describing it like a primary herding dog, but make sure you include its other uses; a military and police dog, a cattle drover, search and rescue, GUARDING, and as a companion.

Nice looking site, though. I hope I didn't sound rude, but like the other posters I don't want people misinformed about one of "my" breeds. ;)

Ummm...I'm sorry. No they don't. The breed originated in the USA. Neither of the sites you referred to say the breed originated in Canada. Chessies came from an ENGLISH shipwreck with two NEWFIES off the coast of MARYLAND who were bred to many LOCAL dogs including SPANIELS, SETTERS, HOUNDS. Just because the forefathers of the breed were Newfies, does not mean the breed originated in Canada. If this were the case, this would mean the the Boston Terrier is English because it came from English Bulldogs and English White Terriers. Just like the Chessie, the Boston Terrier is all American, as the breed was DEVELOPED here in the US. You should probably do a bit of homework before writing these breed descriptions.

Per American Chesapeake Club and the AKC:
"Equally proficient on land and in the water, the Chesapeake Bay Retriever was developed along the Chesapeake Bay to hunt waterfowl under the most adverse weather and water conditions, often having to break ice during the course of many strenuous multiple retrieves."

From the American Heritage Dictionary:"A hunting dog of a breed developed in the United States, having a thick short wavy coat ranging from dark brown to tan in color and known for its skill in retrieving game from water."

From www.i-love-dogs-com: "Country/Region of Origin: United States "

From www.5stardog.com: "Family: gundog, retriever
Area of Origin: United States
Date of Origin: 1800s
Original Function: water retriever"

From www.thepetprofessor.com: "In 1807 a British ship was shipwrecked off the coast of Maryland. Two of the survivors were the ship's dogs - named Sailor and Canton, a male and female who proved later to be excellent water retrievers. These dogs were bred with some of the local sporting dogs and a new breed developed from this hearty stock."

From www.Wikipedia.com: "The Chesapeake Bay Retriever is a breed of dog that was developed along the Chesapeake Bay to hunt waterfowl under adverse weather and water conditions, often having to break ice during the course of many strenuous multiple retrieves. Country of origin: United States"

From www.mdarchives..st.md.us: "A working dog bred to recover waterfowl for hunters, the Chesapeake Bay Retriever is one of only a few breeds actually developed in the United States. Nonetheless, the history of this dog is unclear. Legend tells of an English vessel shipwrecked off the coast of Maryland in the early nineteenth century. Among the survivors were two young dogs of a Newfoundland breed. Supposedly bred to local coonhounds, they evolved into the present-day Chesapeake Bay Retriever."

From www.mdkidspage.com: "In 1964, the Chesapeake Bay Retriever, named after the famous bay region of the breed's origin, was declared the official dog of Maryland. A working dog bred to recover waterfowl for hunters, the Chesapeake Bay Retriever is one of only a few breeds actually developed in the United States. Retrievers excel in field and obedience trials. These dogs are known for their versatility, strength, endurance, and devotion."
