Let's see, the bullmastiff is on quiz 4, the Bernese Mountain Dog and the St Bernard are both on quiz 3...I have lots of difficulty distinguishing the pitbull breeds, various shepherd breeds....such as GSD, Dutch, Shiloh, some of the other countries re-creations, and I recently saw another one that looks very much like the GSD.
I haven't had any trouble with the quizzes scoring me wrong, or labeling the dogs wrong.
I might mention what a vet's assistant told me once, about how sometimes a Llasa Apso looks like a Shih Tzu, and vice versa. Just the worst specimens?
Now some of you know how frustrated I am about this big "mutt" whom everyone says cannot be Anatolian Shepherd. He would be terribly oversized if he was of Akita blood.
I'm not sure what everyone is basing their opinions on, chances are if everyone of you would post pics of the ones you have seen, many of them would not even closely resemble each other. Is the dog bigger or smaller? Is the head wider or more narrow? Is the muzzle shorter or longer? Is it of the almost weirdly tall skinny longlegged variety, or is it built more heavily and stocky?
Does it more closely resemble the pyrenees, the mastiff or the st bernard? Does it have long hair, curly hair or short hair? Does it have a mask or not? Is the body a solid color, brindle, sabled, or spotted? Is the back straight or are the hind legs longer and pushing up the rump? Is the tail curly all the time, does it curl tightly, make a ring or is it more relaxed?
Which standards are ya'all going by? Should he be 33 inches full grown or 29 inches? Is his coloring allowable or is it not?
It seems odd that the only people who agree he is an anatolian are people who have seen him in person. I got a diagram of teeth to check his age. Rufus is only one and a half years old and has plenty of time to grow. The more I look at the various pictures on the net the more convinced he is an Anatolian, although perhaps not one of them that people see most of the time.
Now that I've said my peace, I have plenty of time to enjoy the rest of my day.
